Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

im guessing it means what research questions they used, what gaps in academia they wanted to bridge

I know that part, but am I suppose to go into, why those questions were around at the time, why they felt those 'questions' needed answering? Or just explain the basic situation at the time?

Oii Stazi.
Queerspace is having this group discussion thing called "IDENTITY" for people who aren't sure about their sexuality. I remember you were asking for a friend?

It's on Wednesdays 6PM at Queerspace (downstairs in the Holme Building) from Wednesday 16 April and it'll be on for 6 weeks.

Just thought I'll let you (and your friend) know.

That said, who's seen the newly decorated graffti tunnel? Isn't it great?

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

wtf?! our lecturer for sociology just gave us an assignment.

1500 words including bibliography!

Who the hell includes the bibliography in a word count? So we get punished for consulting more sources, then?

Prehaps they want you to be more original? That's what happened with my EDUF1018 essay - I relied too much on sources.

Yeah I got an essay quesion from Annette on Wed with the same wording. I _think_ she actually means a 1500 essay and also a bibliography. From reading the UOS outline, it looks like she sn't the most editty person in the world, so I'm assuming its a miswording.

Will have to check this though...

I have essays with 600 word bibliographies with amazing marks. Remember, this is academia: we have to use many sources.

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

anyone else get their rankings letter from the E&B faculty today? they sent out a letter for students who placed in the top-3 students for second semester subjects. the letter says your mark, rank, mean mark in the subject and median mark in the subject. quite an awesome initiative

Did you get one?
Oh Annette, I've never seen a bibliography included in the word count, but I guess there's a first for everything.
I actually really like Annette, she seems like a really nice person. I thought today's lecture was interesting although I wish Marlene? spoke up abit and actually answered the questions during the Q&A with abit more detail and insight.

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

Stazi, you seem like a smart cookie, how should I attack the SCLG2606 essay question? It seems pretty straight forward, but is there anything 'extra' I should be bringing up? Apart from comparing it to other theories, and emphasising the negatives of agenda setting, what else am I suppose to do?
