Stazi what do you think of the revised logo for Woolworths from a marketing perspective?

Well, personally I'm not a huge fan on the millions of dollars companies spend on logo redesigns, but in this case, the logo change may work.

For years, WW has been trying to reposition themselves as the fresh food people. With a logo like this:

'the fresh food people' concept isn't communicated well. I assume they've done a lot of research and found that in locations where there's both a WW and Coles, people don't generally have a preference as to where they'll shop. However, if the fresh food factor is pushed, shoppers may want to go to WW first to purchase their fruit/veggies and meat purchases (which is often top of mind when it comes to purchase decisions). The likelihood of them going to Coles after buying fruits/veggies for other consumer goods purchases is unlikely.

The logo should serve as a mental cue to reinforce that people should use WW as their first stop.

However, they must also change their in-store look, otherwise the money spent on the logo will be wasted.

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread

so i returned a book to the library yesterday morning because it was due today. i checked MyLibrary this morning, it was still listed as checked out to me, so obviously they'd somehow messed up at the returns desk and missed it. sent off an email to loan enquiries (at 7am), and when i got home just now they still hadn't replied, so i'm going to get fined for it and probably go over the $25 limit and get blocked. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE THERE.

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread

I wish I had done HRM/IR as a major. It seems like fun! I think I may do a WORK subject next semester.

It is because if I have any chance of breaking it into the HRM industry especially now that I am not majoring in HRM/IR, it is going to be through there career nights and networking sessions etc. So don't go talking to me about unions and shit cause I already am signed out of that

I think that they should make HRM and IR as separate majors. If I wanted both perspectives, it should be a choice just like any other major. They told us at the beginning of WORK1103 Foundations of Work Employment Relations that we were going to either like one or the other so its not as if they don't know there is a conflict of interest.

:mad::mad::mad:

Regardless of whether you like IR or not, it is better for you to understand the laws, rules, policies and events regarding IR. Mainly because if you plan to one day be the HR manager of a big organization or company, you will most likely need to know those issues. Or you may end up needing it in another HR role, so why risk knowing less? Knowing IR is more than simply being 'part of a union', its good to have both perspectives in order for you to do your job better.

Also, if you want to break into HR, you should try getting work experience or voluntary experience in the field rather than simply mingling it up at career nights. Not that I am saying that these nights are useless.

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread

Yeah. I don't think you should do a subject you hate/dislike etc. As long as you don't regret it later. But I agree with you, HRM subjects are a lot more interesting than the IR subjects. I just think you shouldn't limit yourself because HR is very competitive.

Besides, I'm not even doing HRM/IR and I want to pursue a career in it.
WORK2211 and WORK2205 sound interesting!

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread

It depends where you work. HR Managers on a large national level or HR managers that work with government departments are strongly encouraged to know IR laws and policies.

That is exactly my point. I dont need to learn the IR part in order to be a HR Manager.
then why go to uni at all? to advantage you over other applicants?

hay guy...that's what studying IR does. It gives you an advantage.
