For the research assignment, did you guys do it on the gender wage gap? Fiona just sent an email around saying "Second, go to the literature relkating to the gender gap in wages", now I'm not sure if they've provided us with that, somewhere, or are we suppose to find it ourselves/ Me thinks they've given to us because I remember her saying something about the 7 reference sources, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Yeah WebCT is working fine for me as well, stupid blackboard, surley they have to give an extention if you can't access the fucking quiz.

Ahh I feel so behind this semester. I keep planning catch-up weekends, which I end up wasting by watching Dexter, patrolling BoS or other more confidential activies.

I solemly swear that by the time I go to bed I will have:

-Done research methods readings
-Finished 1000w interview report
-edited modernity and religious radicalism essay
-summarise lectures from week

I've done the intro, and the methods section, can someone please explain to me what these results mean, what the numbers mean, please?

The results are looking at the gender pay gap.

R squared means if the data is linerar. i.e. a R closer to 1 suggests that as the independent variable rises, the dependant variable rises, too.

P-values are levels of confidence, to convert into a percentage for non-statisticians, do (1 - p)*100 and it will give you the percentage of significance. So 0.05 < 0.01 < 0.001 in terms of confidence. A p-value of 0.001 suggests almost complete certainty.

I can't really interpret much because I don't have the full study. I think it's saying $59 431 is the median income for that sample size (n) and they can say with near certainty that being a female removes $13 783 from your income ceteris paribus.
