Mine was on Ibis trends around the school.

Did it the weekend before.
There's only 2 people doing this course through DEC.
I think he may have been lenient.

I did my SGP this yr abt Water Quality in Parramata river via Parramatta Park. I got 1st in it but i dont know my mark yet. 'twas 30 pages long. Very scientific analysis bcoz i love chemistry.(Advice to any future SGP doers-do it over a stretched period of time. dont condense it to one weekend bcoz i finished my report one week earlier n i did them in one weekend. 'Twas really tiring)

i left mine fairly late, and did a study of local creek. my focus question was 'asses the human impact on greystanes creek.' pretty good marks, 19/20 for essay, lost a couple in the presentation-im a terrible presenter.

my adivce for anyone doing this-if your on here for help, chances are you left it late. pick something local, and pick a topic that isnt too narrow. my mate was going to do a sgp based off water quality tests, but it ended up really hard to expand on. also i can't stress enough the need for stats. both first-hand results such as surveys, water tests, and the like, as well as photos to back them up, but also data from secondary sources, such as planning maps, census data, etc etc.

other than that-make a schedule, stick to it. if you plan to do field work on monday, do it monday. if you decide to do it the next day you wont.

above all-have fun. if you're doin it you are still in year 11. the hard stuff doesnt start till next year.

My school has given me two options in presenting the SGP. Oral presentation using audiovisual material or 2,000 word written/typed report. Which one do you think is more effective and why?

Thanks,
Berty

My SGP was about the effects of trees on surface temperatures in the neighbourhood (in this case it was my street). I got the top mark in the class (although at the time i was quite suprised - i felt my essay was quite poor)

I got mine in the holidays and its due Week 1 Term 4.
I'm thinking about doing - the challenges faced by todays adolescents compared to older generations.

Do you reckon I should do that?

my focus question was:
"how do the property values between Gymea and Helensburgh differ? What are the effects no the services provided?"

i think i did a pretty crap job with it, lack of primary research, and very poor time management... all nighters much?
I ended up getting 17/20. which is pretty cool i suppose.:uhhuh:
