It came through a lightbulb moment

I was thinking about looking into the dilemmas of an only child regarding social interaction in society. More so how it compare to individuals that have siblings, through my secondary research i have began to realise that siblings do play a role in ones development and that only children have certain charecteristics (whether true or false)
I could look at these characterisitcs, the importance of siblings, theorists, stereotypes and even have fuigured a way to link the topic to the 5 fundamental concepts of society and culture (persons, culture, environment, time, society)
I am an only child by the way so it is personal that way and im interested in the way people a quick to judge that only children are greedy, lonely, selfish etc.
I was also thinking about a cross cultural comparison with china (and the one child poilcy) as an example of the choice being forced upon parents rather than in australia/US, UK where we choose to have a big family or not (financial reasons etc)
ive fuigured a way to pull it all together even though it seems like a massive pool of ideas

Now i just want to know what others thing!!!!
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

that all sounds good but which methodologies will you use?
You could use personal reflection and then an interview to find out your view of being an only child and someone else's also you could interview someone that has a large family or a relativley normal sized family.
It may be hard to find a lot of information about China because its so secretive sometimes but im sure you could find some info in articles etc.

good luck

Thanks Jesse, as for the methdolodies i was going to do a personal reflection, interview and questionnaire, my uncles wife is chinese and would be happy to be interviewed, her being an only child and a girl was frowned upon by her family especially when she became pregnant and was also having a girl (thats besides the point though lol) Ive also found a fiew internet resources that i can email psyhcologists through that specialise in issue regarding child - adult hood only children interaction, as for the theories there is the 'birth order theory' and theorist Adler who studied the needs and social dilemmas of only children and children of a 'birth order' such as the middle child 'syndrome'. I want to focus mainly on social interaction and go from there, china will probably be an example of how some persons are forced (chinese families) where in Australia and most 'developed' countries we make that decision ourselves eg financial reasons. As i am an only child i was shocked at how much of the characteristics of only children resembled myself such as when going through adolescence, only children find it harder to deal with family feuds as they feel a stronger sense of connection with family rather than peers and are used to, so called, 'special treatment.'

The information is endless i just need to organise and go about my primary resourses in a sophisicated manor and process it all professionally, im striving for a high distinction, i can pretty much memorize the syllabus outcomes (something wrong with me big time)

Apart from that it is still early days, i have some workshops to go to in the holidays, emails to write, a few librarys to visit etc etc etc, i wanted something original, wasnt related to the media, intercultural communication, popular culture etc because how many of those would markers go through over the years. I do hope ive stumbled on something unique that hopefully markers will love, hopefully being the key word there

Thanks for the feedback, it got me on another role, as you can see

I can assure you this topic has been done before, I remember reading a pip about it when I was looking for ideas..

Its very hard to find something that no one has done UNLESS its about something that has happened that year.
anyway seems like you have some good ideas, I wouldnt mind reading it one day :)
