All aboard the QBE bandwagon, I love QBE. I have sentimental spot for them since they were my first shares.

On the whole Westpac/St George merger issue, its interesting to see that Westpac waited until close of trade on Friday to 'discuss' the merger with St George, and then formally announced it at 9:30am on Monday. Though, its been on the cards for a while now.

Thats like 30 minutes that the market was open from discussion to announcement.

Would be hating Gail Kelly right now if I was in regional management (or any upper management) with Westpac, seeing as though she would have a nice team that she built up from her time in the hot seat with St George.

sold 120 ANZ shares:
Buy Price: $20.300
Sell Price: $23.260
Brokerage: $60.00

Profit: $295 (On $2,436 investment).

Bought 111 Westpac Shares
Buy Price: $24.330

Now, let's hope the WBC + SGB merger fails hard

would have had better luck trusting myself and going for alliance resources :( was thinking about them for a long term investment, but even as a short term investment they climbed heaps

can someone explain to me how you go about buying shares?
do you need to do it through a broker or can you do it by yourself?

you can do it by yourself through a broker, such as commsec.
