Hey guys,

I've written a short story for belonging but I got a pretty dismal mark for it.
Teacher didn't really tell me how to improve it so I was wondering if anyone wants to read and share opinions. It would be especially helpful if you've already done the hsc. Thanks!

You can send it to me if you like. I received full marks for my story in the HSC half yearly and 14/15 for my trial. I'll check it for you and give u some feedback.

Its all about the techniques and language, not the actual storyline
For example, i wrote a story about the life of a banana and all my teachers were giving it 14+/15

As one of the english markers said, by the end of HSC marking, a million characters will have shed a million tears, and as cliche it may be, you won't get marked down

LOL REALLY? I've asked a few people about my story and they've said that my use of language is pretty good. However, it's the overly dramatised plot and how "it has no logic" (quote the teacher) that suffers. :(

But if you got what you got by using plentiful language techniques, then that's also reassuring.

Make your story realistic and not cliched and you'll be on your way - writing eloquently helps too :)

NB: That is easier said than done.
