15 minutes was the shortest - everyone was like what IS going on when the bell went - most ppl were late to class. Anyway, that was only b/c that day was operating on a wet day timetable.

Last school I was enrolled in operated on these times:

8:43am - Warning Bell
8:47am - Form Assembly

8:52am Period 1
9:41am - Period 2

10:28am - RECESS
10:48am - Warning Bell

10:53am - Period 3
11:40am - Period 4

12:27pm - LUNCH
1:19pm - Warning Bell

1:24pm - Period 5
2:11pm - Period 6

2:58pm - Dismissal

I think an hour lunch would be wayyy too long. I used to get so bored during our 40 min lunches on some days. I always thought they should cut our lunch short and let us go home earlier.

we have 35 mins at my school (2 lunch "periods of 20 min & 15 min) and morning tea (I cant bring myself to say recess-its like saying little lunch @ primary school :) ) is 15-20 mins (depends if it is an assembly day or not)
seems almost standard at the schools I have taught at (give or take 5 mins)

recess means a recess its a noun
i would think morning tea would remind you more of 'little lunch'

naw, recess is for school (just little lunch was the term we used at primary school)........morning tea is what you have when you work for a living in the real world!!

its more to do with the "kids" idea of "recess" (an apple, packet of chips, a fake fruit bar etc, sit in a circle, chat on the phone or listen to the walkman, talk about cutes guys/girls....)
Hey, maybe I should use "recess"!
LOL
BTW- tea rules!!!!!! good pick me up!
LOL

or in a corporate setting....a bunch of suits pull out their lunchboxes and trade junkfood! (but they stuff their apples to the bottom of their briefcases!)

Or a bunch of supermodels pull out their recess and take the whole time to manage to get the whole corn kernal down.

And then throw it up 20 minutes later when they miscalculate the number of calories they've swallowed.
