Hi guys I'm fairly new to this.
My school has allowed the chance to change subjects if I wish.

The current subjects I do are:
English Standard
Studies Of Religion 1
Mathematics
Maths Extension 1
Information Process Technology
Software Design and Development
Physics

I wish to drop physics. Things aren't really going the way I want things to be, I believe Physics will bring me down due to the current teacher I have. I have considered taking Business studies because I find it interesting and think I could do better in this subject then Physics. I want to go on the lines of a software engineer anything associated with i.t. As much as I would like to do Physics, it can't happen with the way I'm going.

Please guys any suggestions if my plan is good or not?

Unless it's impossible to change to a different teacher, I'd say go for it and drop Physics.

Physics will allow you to pursue many other courses like Engineering. Aren't IPT & SDD quite related - do you need to do both? Of course, if you don't have a mind for Physics, then that's a different matter.

I have considered dropping physics too, partially because I found the teacher to be unable to explain concepts in a way that I could actually understand them. However, I made an effort to read my textbook and make more comprehensive study notes. Physics includes a lot of calculations problems so practicising from papers really helped. In a way, I became more motivated to self-study and as a result, I began to grasp physics better. I'm really glad I didn't drop physics because when I receive my half yearly report, I will probably be ranked in the top 10, possibly top 5.

You're still at the beginning of prelim year. If I were you, I would try to stick it out for at least a couple of assessment tasks. Perhaps you are not struggling as much as you think you are :). Also, starting another subject (for you, Business) at this point won't be easy. You would essentially be playing catch up with the rest of your year.

Good luck for whatever you choose!
