Hi guys! I am wondering if I should drop Ext 1 English for my HSC this year.

Overall, I got in the 90s in my school assessments for Ext1 English, however it's taking up a lot of time.

My subjects are:

Ancient History
Chemistry
Biology
Maths Ext 1
Maths Ext 2
English Adv
English Ext 1

So that's a total of 13 units.

I recently entered my marks in the SAM calculator, to my surprise, English Advanced was counted and not English Ext! - Both marks were 95

So my question is, do you think English Ext 1 is a waste of time? Is it worth continuing English Ext 1?

My teacher told me that English Ext 1 scales better than Advanced, is this really true? I know that I can get roughly the same marks for both Adv and Ext, though it concerns me as to which one scales better and which one is worth doing.

Thank you for your input.

You do realise that Ext Eng is marked our of 50 right? hence, you cant type 95 for ext into sam, because you will receive a mark out of 100. Furthermore, sam is not reliable in estimating UAI's based on internal marks.

Whether you drop Ext is obviously up to you, and whether you think your getting marks relative to your effort. More importantly, how are your marks comparitively? What are your ranks?
