Well, I do many subjects that have a lot of content (Modern, Ancient, Business, SOR II, and English Advanced).
I'm probably performing okay in Modern. However, my teacher does have hope in me and I know I really can improve. It was just because I didn't finish my half-yearly exam for Modern History (spent too much time on one essay). With Ancient History I'm ranked 7/14, but the gaps aren't that big and again I know I can improve significantly.
I also do PDHPE, and whilst I'm not doing terrible in it, I'm not doing great either. However, I know I can improve in PDHPE - I sat the half-yearly exam with the intention of dropping it, and I got 60 percent. But, I want to drop but I've heard that it is really risky and dangerous and I really don't know if I should - I'm having second thoughts about it. But I know I can perform well in all 5 of my subjects.

Should I drop?

Do you want to drop because it's time consuming?

I'm also contemplating dropping a subject, the only reason why I'm not is because I'm coming 1st in IPT (without study) and it might save me (even though i strongly dislike the subject). For me, it is my bludge subject, i usually do other work in class (so basically it is an extra free period), somehow I absorb the information just by listening to the teacher.

It also depends on whether you like the subject or not. If you were intending to drop it, what made you change your mind? If you are really confident in your subjects and are willing to put more effort into Ancient, then drop it. If you still think it is risky, then you can do what I'm doing and not focus on the subject (maybe haha) while putting more effort into others and see how you go.

Like you said, you feel comfortable with your remaining five subjects.

Look at the HSC exams of the five you would like to keep, and assess where you could possible stuff up (like properly stuff up, i.e. get 25% in a section because of an off day or something like that). After assessing these exams, and you feel as though there isn't a chance you could stuff up badly, go for it.

Better to study for five subjects you enjoy, than divide time 6 ways, including a subject you don't enjoy.

Since you are doing well across the board, having an extra two units could help you quite a bit. However, if you feel that you will benefit by dropping down, then it might be a good idea.
