First term is ending soon, been trying to do as best as possible but I think it is taking a psychological toll on me.

Should I just stop taking it seriously?

I would highly recommend taking prelim seriously because it will prepare you mentally for the additional pressure you will experience during the HSC. It is best to learn how to deal with stress now rather than leaving for Year 12. If you take your foot off the pedal now, then the jump will be too steep.

Have a talk with your teachers, peers, and other students on BoS if you need help figuring out which strategies work for you.

Chill. Only take maths and english seriously. If you're doing subs where prelim content is tested in hsc, do it seriously. If not like IPT and Business then just cram is what i did

If you are not a resilient person, don't go full on but maintain a moderate consistent pace so you don't burnout. Just maybe up it a bit once HSC hits

Take it seriously, year 11 is a great foundation for the skills required to achieve top marks in the hsc.

Doesn't every subject's HSC include 30% Prelim content?
That fact is the only reason I try so hard and do notes and everything, because I figured I would need them all very soon...

Not really, only for Maths (whole of prelim can be tested), chemistry yeah, physics I think, English writing skills are needed, Eco Econ of scale and stuff. Subjects like business and IPT pfft I forget half of what I learn and am doing fine

Take it seriously, year 11 is when you get everything sorted out. In year 11 you should be working relatively hard, but keep it at a level at which you won't burn yourself out and start experimenting with how you study, practice for exams, how to tackle exams and also what a healthy balance is. the most important thing in year 11 is to work hard but keep a good balance between study, socialising and physical activity, chances are you'll be studying more than anything else at times in year 12.

yeah but that will throw of pretty much everyone in the state. if you look at past papers for like physics or chem 99.99% of the time they are hsc or at least allude to some prelim content

Thanks everyone with the advice.

Just dealing with some intense family issues at the same time.

If I was to focus on somethings, what would it be?
Subjects:

Advanced English
Advanced Mathematics + Extension(Wanting to do Extension 2 due to having an intense love for mathematics)
Chemistry (Did a gifted and talented program which says I have the units of chemistry for 1st year university, which was nice.)
Physics
Information Technology VET.
Japanese Beginners.

Any help on any of that would be appreciated too ^.^

Year 11 is a huge change for everyone and it is understandable you're finding it hard to adjust. I suggest you give your best shot in year 11, working as hard as you can. Year 11 is a practice run for year 12 and it's a good time to test out what works for you (e.g. Managing workload, Study techniques). If you slack off and only do bare minimum you are not preparing yourself well for year 12 and by the time you start the HSC you won't have any motivation.

Even though the Prelim content wont be tested in the HSC some concepts carry over and are still relevent throughout year 12.

On the other hand, it is important to have a balance... such as allowing adequate time for social, work, exercise and relexation. I can understand how stressed you are. I am stressed the majority of the time. There are people out there that can help you, such as your year advisor, school counsellor and the community here on BOS.

Good luck and remember year 11 isn't the "be all, end all" :)

It is very important you are taking Year 11 seriously because the attitude and study skills you develop can greatly determine your results in the HSC.

Definitely agree with what has been said above - Year 11 may not count, but it's excellent preparation for the HSC and even uni. Many people operate under the mentality "Year 11 doesnt count towards anything so why bother, I'll just try on the HSC". To me, this is like a footballer saying "I wont bother in training because it doesnt count, I'll just try during the game". Preparing and making an effort early on teaches you good study habits and methodologies, which help a great deal with later study. The older you become the harder it is to change your habits. I went to a uni where most people didnt really try or bother in HS and for them the transition to uni was a lot tougher and many of them took a long time to adapt to the uni system.

I know it seems like I'm talking shit, but putting in effort from early on definitely has a long-term impact from what I have seen.
