The only movie I have seen to treat war in a respect close to that, is All Quiet on the Western Front.

But then again, how can we have a war movie where the story's main hero dies? Silly people.
I watched that movie for modern history - twas really good.

I remember seeing several war movies though that did respect the wars but i can't remember their names.
