umm, came across it in the 2003 Trial exam (just said trial exam)

and one of the question reads:

a spreadsheet designer has been informed that a pivot table may be useful tool for solving a problem. The designer doesn't know what a pivot table is, so they have no idea how it could help.

Describe different methods the designer could use to learn more about pivot tables

now i'm thinking using online help or tutorial...but..i dunno...
i looked up in excel what a pivot table is and i got no idea wat the heck it is

That's correct, it's not a focused, aspect of excel, they just wanted to be wanky with you and confuse the hell out of you, i think pivot tables needs some VBA background knowledge too.

Yeah, the Pivot tables were out to trick you, because I got the same question for my trial, and I was thinking, what the ??

It's just amount of anaylsing the question for the keywords.
