i don't understand these questions, can someone help me break it down so i can structure it (im doing migrant hostel and 10 mary street) :
1. Belonging is a matter of perception
2. All of us are torn between wanting to stand apart and wanting to fit in. How is this conflict explored in your prescribed text
3. Significant moments in time shape an understanding of belonging

1. migrant - the family's perception of the hostel is one of negativity... isolated all that jazz :p
mary st - owning a home = aussie dream = sense of stability and security (perception) = belonging
2. the 2 texts contrast in the respect - migrant they want to fit in to society but fail to do so and in mary st, they become accepted and want people to know it
3. this was the cssa trial - the time spent in the hostel was instrumental in the family's isolation...
owning their home was the first time they felt accepted
