So I have an assignment where one part is to do a short analysis on an audiovisual piece. So that's basically films or documentaries but I think films are much easier to analyse.
So I was going to do one for the movie Garden State, but I had trouble writing a nice cohesive analysis for it. It does have aspects of belonging but it was hard to relate and explain succinctly and I think a another movie might be better. A movie I like more too.
So I had three other ideas of movies I've already seen;
1. Looking for Alibrandi I adore the book and the movie adaption is decent but I was just thinking if I do that one, it might be more of a Standard text. Like its relation to belonging is so clear cut and it's written about kids exactly our age so I think it'd be overused. Plus, our prescribed text is about migrants and growing up in Australia so it's probably a popular take on belonging.
2. Mary and Max- it's a great animated film, and I'm thinking being animated it's prob a bit different as most people would do feature film. I'm sure if I dissected it, there would be lots of good techniques.
3. Little Miss Sunshine- I adore this movie but once again maybe a little clear cut and overpopular?
My English teacher says it's best to steer clear of kid/teen movies as it immediately lowers the marker's expectations as to being a Standard kid. So what do you lovely BOSers think?
