jm: 100 raw doesn't = 100 scaled
Top mark of 4U maths is usually nowhere near 100%, yet as the top mark it gets 100% as it is uncapped...
cappage being based on SD and Median...
So if you did arabic beginners for example, getting the highest mark/getting 100% isn't going to translate to a scaled mark anywhere near that.
5 subjects like that, and you cannot possibly get the 480's aggregate needed.
So you need to get good in subjects with high enough medians.

An irrelevant point for most people, but a point nonetheless.

one thing that the schools dont tell you is that there is a book that has existed for a really long time which details exactly how much your raw mark moves up and down depending on what band you fall into and in which subject.
There is no such book.

The parameters for both scaling and aligning are determined afresh each year.

Past statistics are available, but they say nothing about the future.

I remember a long time ago a discussion like this. The subs General maths, Standard English, IPT, Engineering studies, and SDD couldnt get you a 100 even if you topped the state in all. But that would have gotten you 99.95. There is no difference between them so who really cares?
That 0.05 means the difference between either:
a) $6000 or nothing at UNSW
b) a $5K or $8K scholarship at USyd
I wouldn't say that there is "no difference" between them.

the uai scholarship in sydney is 5k for 99.95 and 100, the 8k one is by application

i don't remember a 6k one at UNSW for uai

i'm not sure that 100 raw in arabic beginers will give <100 scaled mark...

can someone confirm this with a document of some sort?
