So a few weeks ago I sent my teacher an email asking her for her thoughts on how to approach the Islam belief system questions
I said
"for Islam my essay structure is as follows:
Intro
traditions/history
technology
migration
globalisation
futures
conclusion."

She replied today, saying it was too narrow. And gave me a list of old exams. Now, if anything, that list is too broad. What could she possibly mean too narrow? How is everyone else approaching the Islam question?

Generally an essay should be directed at answering a question....... so what is the essay question in this case?

Depends on the question being asked. If the question is asking about a certain belief or practice, and you speak about technology, tradition etc, I agree with your teacher in the structure being too narrow. You want to be able to talk about as much as possible, or talk about the theme broadly over a few topic areas.
