In the PlayStation Meeting 2003, Sony Computer Entertainment revealed details and specifications for its upcoming handheld, the PSP. SCE described the PSP as the "21st-century Walkman," showing confidence in the company's upcoming product, which utilizes a number of high-end components. The PSP will consist of two microprocessors, an advanced sound engine, a 3D graphics engine, a 4.5-inch 16:9-format TFT LCD screen, and a number of connection capabilities.

its going to be too expensive....

i mean dual 400MHz risc processors
and mini-DVD cartidges

"Cheap Sony" is a oxymoron.

I'd never expect anything from Sony to be cheap. But this is just plain cool.

its going to be alot more power ful than the damn pocket pcs.
and they cost $700-$1400

i don't think prices are going to drip that much in 1-2 years.

would you pay ~$600 for a handheld console???

Sorry i kind of skimed through the article/thread. Your right. I was kind of thinking it was like psx etc....

and i remember years ago i payed $800 for a Sony MD Walkman..
so psp is priced realli cheap !! i hear sony is only making $20 off every psp they sell..

hmmmm they released the 2.0 firmware a few weeks ago. Comes with Internet browser etc....

So im guessing Australia's PSP will include the 2.0 firmware?


I'm yet to try 2.0 out on my PSP yet, as ive leant it a friend.

yeh the new firmware prevents you from hacking the system.. so u cant put windows on the new firmware if u haf already updated it

yeah mine comes with 1.5 (and still has 1.5)

I can only only use hombrew apps using the two memorystick method of swapping them on loading.....
