i saw that - it outlines mainly illness/personal circumstances...

Such causes include:
serious illness or psychological condition – such as hospital admission, serious injury or illness, severe anxiety or depression.
loss or bereavement – such as death of a close family member, family/relationship breakdown
hardship/trauma – such as victim of crime, sudden loss of income or employment, severe disruption to domestic arrangements
exceptional employment demands – such as active service (e.g. ADF Reserves, bushfire and SES services)

but then the form itself allows for
(Illness, Misadventure or Work-related Circumstances Affecting Assessment)

am i nitpicking?

i know in the faculty of it that we don't get special consideration for computers breaking down, because you are supposed to back up your work as contingency... so im not very hopeful that you will get it.

however, i think you should apply regardless, because it will be up to the subject coordinator whether you get it or not so you might get lucky.

to be honest dont bother. I mean can you prove that you lost your work and not have kept a back up copy somewhere else without their knowledge?

USB keys or portable hard drives people ... backup backup backup!

I actually backup via a secure channel to a server at my work! So all my files can be restored in case my laptop screws up or worse .. gets stolen.
