perhaps but then if you think about how hard it must be to coordinate the release of HSC marks via internet, text message and post you can imagine that the BoS must have a lot on their hands at the moment.

It remains to be seen what the media outlets will do in light of the new laws prohibiting publication of school 'league tables' (in hardcopy at least). The Daily Telegraph for example will not be able to publish its usual top 200 rankings in its print edition. The top 10% of schools can be published however, and I expect this is what we'll see in tomorrow's papers. The DT and SMH may also choose to publish more extensive rankings on their websites. The media have not usually done full rankings of all schools.

In the past, how has the full list of rankings (i.e. to 8-900) been released?

A little red book called University Entry Requirements 2010 (Year 10 Booklet) by UAC has what you are looking for. The subjects are basically in alphabetical order. The languages have the code 16xxx, distinction courses 25xxx, category B courses mainly 16xxx.
