Re: What is next for the 09er's?

Now is the time when the study actually begins and the bludging ends for me.

Not willing to sacrifice my social life, because it'd be suicide to do so, so finding a comprimise between the two is essential for me (and I think most other people).

[/FONT] This is what i have been doing the things in red and vitally important to me, so don't skip em.

What i do is say: ok i need to read this book for english so i will say for half the day give or take ,read the book/play, then i'll say ok need to do some maths and jap i'll do an hour each of those, then i'll just do some catch-up/revision of my notes then i do what i wish. so it's a time table, but a relaxed one, i can't do say: at 7:30 i'll do this for an hour then swap over the maths. It doesn't work like that just creates stress, heaps of people in my year do that and create confusion for themselves, so i do what i want to do for however long i do as long as i do a minium of 4 hours a day (just to ensure that i study enough). 4 hours per subject so 32 hours a weekstudy or a minimum of 28 hours (equivalent to 4 hours a night), then at least 3 hoursrevision on my notes & reviewing what i have done a week, then i have 2 hours essay practice a week and 45 minutes of creative writing in a test environment and then doing 1 test a week from a past hsc. So ido about 37hrs and 45 minutes a week studying.

I do 4 hours for each subject a week in total (which equates to 2 hours per unit [exlucding ext which is equal to 2U worth of work])

I study by:
-syllabus notes
-practice essays
-practice exams (cause i can for english and then prelim)[soon to be HSC tests]
-huge ass posters that have mind maps
-record notes and listen to them
-have things blu-taked to roof above my bed
-flash cards
-teaching others the subject when they don't understand
-homework & assignments
-revison guide questions

it was at first but my timetable is not strict in regards to 30 minutes of maths, 1 hour of geography etc. I just states do 4 hours a day of study (except on weekends where I follow my school time table to ensure that i study proprerly)

hope this helps

Re: study time

Well, I like the way you made your timetable. It's detailed and relevant.

However, it seems to be adjusted to people who can actually stay until 1am or 2am.

But that's just me. As I said your plan is pretty great. But in my case, it's just hard to carry it out.

And I don't like to stick to strict timetable...not that timetabling is bad...just not much practical for someone like me...

I just make timetable to refer to that, not necessarily to follow it.

marcquelle your timetable doesn't allow for any socialising, physical activity etc. Try to ensure you are having a balanced and healthy lifestyle as well as getting all your study done.
i do get my socialising in at school, its just at the moment with work the hours i'm doing, i used to use saturday and sundays as my socialising hours but my timetable had to be adjusted i am currently doing up a new timetable, that has new work times in it which allows for more socialising.

EDIT: also i do my study on friday at the gym whilst on the treadmill and spin cycle where it says HOMEWORK

Young Achievement Australia

It's buisness skills program, where students design a buisness and a product and run the buisness then liquidate.

i was suggested 15mins per unit per night.
so, physics is a 2 unit subject, do at least 1/2hr study a night.
ext 1 maths is a 3 unit subject, do at least 3/4hr study a night..

when you add them all together, you'll end up with approx 3hrs of study a night, which is achievable and wont 'burn you out'
you mean a week not a night?

Re: study time

Just remember if you are in year 11 your marks and ranks don't mean anything past year 11 as you start fresh in year 12.

I studied only year 12 material in 3 weeks before the HSC whilst doing no study at nights and owned the HSC (97 uai) and I wouldn't consider myself a naturally gifted student at all.

So in short...enjoy year 11 don't waste too much time unless your parents are going to beat you for not getting As which really don't mean anything
