Im currently doing year 12 VCE and I really want to go to America or England to study and live for atleast a year, if not 4 years of my degree in Psychology.

My question is if I did go over there and complete my degree in the US/UK would I only be able to work as a Psychologist in the US/UK and not Australia?

Thanks in advance for any information :)

Unless you want to work in the United Kingdom/States, you'll end up in a mt. of student debt, teeth caries (if UK), [crap about US], and in clinical depression, go on an exchange.
=P

There's nothing so bad about staying in Victoria to do psychology, you know.

Say you do go to the US/UK and graduate with a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (majoring in Psychology), and you come back to Australia, in order to qualify as a practising, licensed psychologist, you will need to do postgraduate studies in a specialist area or supervised practice.
Should you stay in the US/UK, you'll still need to do postgraduate studies.

Hope that helps.

My advice is to consider carefully exactly why you want to go to the US and the UK for psychology. Ask yourself the following questions:

- Is there something that a psychology degree in this particular overseas uni offers that another Australian institution does not?
- Are you going to this overseas uni for its prestige/name rather than the quality/content of the degree?
- Have you considered the cost of studying overseas (fees at the overseas rate + accommondation). Do you need support from a full scholarship?

My advice to all those considering undergrad overseas is that undergrad degrees are pretty much similar everywhere (it's text book materials). On the other hand, for postgrad research (PhD and Masters by Research) I encourage students to consider going overseas because the research facilities and technology are just better; and you get to work under some of the world leaders in certain research areas.
