Is it possible to study religion (s) from an academic perspective?

NB: Please take into consideration that this thread is not intended for any sort of racism or arguments between those who follow a religion and those who do not.

It is merely a discussion which I seek to gain valuable responses from so as to complete an assessment for one of my units @ university.

Thanks.

Are you completeing the question from first year studies of religion. There was a fresher on my floor at college doing a question ridiculously simliar to that one...

But it is possible, as long as personal biases can be left at the door (so to speak) when approaching something that opposes personal beliefs or opinions- it's not about what's right and what's wrong- one must be objective and unbias to approach it effectively from an academic perspective.

Thats all i've got for you mate.

All the Best
