Subject Choice and Potential ATAR (1 Viewer)

As hard as I've tried to find an answer without actually posting a new thread, I'm still struggling to understand the whole ATAR/scaling thing.

I completed my HSC in 2010 with disappointing results because I didn't apply myself hard enough, and now I am doing it again through TAFE.
TAFE doesn't offer a very wide range of courses, so the subjects I am studying (all pretty average) are:

Standard English
Mathematics
Ancient History
Business Studies
Studies of Religion II

One of my main concerns is to do with English. In 2010, I studied Advanced English, but I was unable to choose it again this year due to the fact that it wasn't being offered at TAFE.
My performance is pretty high, and I am likely to be ranked first. I know that if I apply myself, I am capable of achieving 90+ in all of my subjects, and my ATAR aim is 95+.
Is this too ambitious?

you cant be to ambitious

90+ in all your subs is defs over 90 atar but i cant be sure about 95+, play around with atar calculators

I put all my results from my 2010 results into a 2010 based calculator and it was a fair bit off.
Guess I'll just stay ambitious and aim for 100%

Whats your rationale behind redoing the HSC - is it solely because you did poorly the first time around?

Well that's part of it, but also because I want to get into ADFA or a high ATAR cut-off degree at somewhere like UNSW. I figured that redoing the HSC would be the best way to go because it keeps options open, as opposed to some of the foundation courses that universities offer.

To be honest, redoing the HSC is a big waste of time. You are far better off starting a degree closely related to your target course and then transfering in. By doing this, you can complete some units which cross over into your target degree, as opposed to wasting a full year redoing the HSC.

To get into ADFA, redoing the HSC or doing the TPC at TAFE; or going back to school to repeat year 11 and 12 seemed to be my only options, and I figured that if I chose the HSC, I would be able to do subjects that I already had experience in.
My ATAR from 2010 was only 56.30.
