Fuck, I got rejected from DLA.

Hypertrophy, do you have any idea of why you got rejected from DLA, as you did mention that you received a first-round interview at Freehills? I also got Freehills.

Hardenne, did you hear from Bakers? I just got rejected.

Just got rejected from Bakers which I am pretty upset about, they were my first choice. Getting worried now, 18 months Paralegal work, referee that is a supreme court judge and a c/d average isnt enough!

The story so far:
*Freehills: Rejection
*DLA Phillips Fox : Rejection

*PWC Legal - Online test invite, completed that but no phone interview as of yet.
*Baker & McKenzie: Rejection
*Clayton Utz
*Corrs Chambers Westgarth
*Deacons
*DibbsBarker
*Gilbert + Tobin
*Henry Davis York
*Maddocks
* Middletons
*Thomson Playford Cutlers
*TressCox Lawyers
*Gadens
*Jones Day
*Allens Arthur Robertson
*NSW Attorney Generals Department
*Blake Dawson
*Holding Redlich
*Johnson Winter & Slattery
*Slater and Gordon
*Harmers
*Minter Ellison
*Mallesons

keep you head up Mel. Remember, this year is an exceptional year, it was always going to be tough. You got many firms to go, the right one for you will come along. And yeah, I do not know what cuts it these days.

Thnx, congrats on the Bakers interview. What makes you think this year is so exceptional? I am curious

I applied to most firms & the 4 accounting firms. So far:

Freehills - rejection
Phillips Fox - rejection
Baker & McKenzie - rejection

PwC - Online test
KPMG - Online test
Deloitte - Invitation to some info evening (applications haven't even closed yet so I don't think it's indicative of anything).

I'm trying to resist the temptation to freak out. Although there are some people that might score heaps of interviews, most people I've spoken to that have done it before got 3 or 4.

Every firm is different - different criteria, different 'values', different culture. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself so I can get through this week...

by exceptional I meant the year of the financial crisis, law firms sacking everyone, lower intakes etc, I didn't mean the cohort was exceptional, though it just makes it even more competitive.

I know, sucks for us doesn't it...oh well must try and relax many firms still to reply!

D'oh, D'oh, D'oh...Woohooo A flier for a hardware store....D'oh!

Yeh I didn't apply for B&M but got a DLA interview, but no Freehills.

Still shocked that people that got a Freehills interview were rejected by DLA.

Freehills HR department must be drinking nothing but Carrots and Peyote...no offence to HyperTrophy

No idea. They said that because of the overwhelming number of applications, they are unable to give individual feedback.

Or perhaps it is the DLA HR department who is drinking nothing but Carrots and Peyote.

I have been quite surprised with the responses of firms so far. I know of some people with great results, part-time legal work, international mooting experience, leadership roles in legal associations etc who have been rejected.

I hear Baker like to hire very good looking people, but with no photo, don't know how they could have done that...
