Hello

i was wondering if anyone knew if the painting called The Scream by Edvard Munch is considered crime fiction - though possibly the after effects of it....

Hello darlings. I strongly recommend Phone Booth if you can be bothered to analyse it; if anyone needs notes, feel free to PM.

The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith and Metro Girl by Janet Evanovich are both lighthearted, crime fiction relevent with a female detective.

Midsomer murders are screening at the moment on channel 9.

No. 1 ladies detective agency is awesome! I recommend it

Any Ian Rankin novels are great examples of dectetive fiction. Particularly with Rebus as a sleuth--- stereotypical loner usually with a drink in his hand. Or at least on his mind. I suggest: Resurrection Men, The Falls and Mortal Causes

Midsummer Murders are very good too.

Sin City (either film or graphic novels) is also great for the Noir style of crime fiction.

I'm currently reading Jennifer Government (Max Barry) which is a crime fiction story set in the future. Very good read.

There's also a movie... Thelma and Lousie which I'm yet to check out. Suppose to be really good.

Snatch (film) possibly?

For an example of neo-noir the first season of angel is gold. pure gold. Angel is the classic hard-boiled detective. Come on, he can only work at night!!!

Hurmmm.
Batman Begins would fit into the noir idea of things.
Cowboy Bebop (anime series)
Detective Conon? Manga again... but cute and could be an example of subversion (the detective is *8*... kind of.)
Oceans 11/ Oceans 12, again for the subversion/ context/ values side of things.

Dorothy L Sayers novels are great when you would like to be familiar with conventions and basic concepts of cri fi. I really like her because she's not as boring as Christie. I suggest you read Have His Carcase.
Great supp text.
