Hey guys im a year 10 student who has done alot of research and come to the conclusion that after this year i wish to complete my HSC at TAFE!

Im aware of the subject choices and know that its going to be a whole new environment but i also found out that in october when enrolment comes around there is an interview. What do they ask and look for? and also what are some reasons they wouldn't accept me? (they guy on the phone had a good chat to me and it sounds like a very "selective" course. PS: LOL no..i have'nt been expelled from any school and my attendance is ok and i do have posotive comments from teachers but my marks are'nt that great. (they'll most probably be viewing the report im about to recieve. My half yearly)

Thanks in advance =)

why tafe ? if your school will still have your through year 11 and 12 then why not ?

there will be more people in your age group, so more parties, more fun times, then with some people who came from overseas and want to do the hsc or drop outs who decided down the track they dont want to lay bricks anymore

hey, i'm doing the HSC through tafe right now, i completed yr 11 last year and am currently doing yr 12 HSC. i don't think there was an interview when i applied (if there was it was written and really easy because i don't remember it at all lol), but maybe thats different because i'm doing it by distance. it's not exclusive at all, all i did was ring up the HSC section and got the application papers sent out; there is two tests you have to send in with your app, one is maths (its REALLY general and easy, covers year 9ish stuff i guess) and the other is English (short essay from memory). Both were extremely easy and TAFE is the best! you get the best choice of subjects and i don't attend classes EVER. year 11 is an absolute bludge coz non of it counts toward your HSC.
hope this helps :)

looky here mr. smart ass i'm not from overseas or a drop kick and i get over 92% in all my subjects. year 12 isn't a time for socialising and partying if you want to do well, save it for when you get your results... though i don't think you'll have much to party about when you get yours. :)

fuck me dead, i was just wondering why TAFE and not stick it out through high school?

the reason i said the dropouts/foreigner part was because you wont find any dropouts and not a great deal of foreigners (compared to domestic students) in high school HSC

i know quite alot of people who did certificates through tafe rather than degrees through uni's just because TAFE offered what they wanted?

was just wondering why would you want to do your HSC throught tafe and not highschool?

is it because you went to a school that doesnt offer subjects you want, or live in the country or something ?

oh soz, sounded like you were havin a go.
i just like doing things differently, i don't conform lol
i kinda stopped going to school in yr 5... its my style, i worked on my own until yr 8, skipped yr 9 n went straight to yr 10 which i did at CIT, that was the maddest yr EVER. anyway, started tafe last yr coz i wanted to do the HSC and have been ever since. i have to admit you get a HELL of alot more time to do your own thing when you don't have to go to school :)
so i'm takin it you like your high school? does it get boring doing the same thing every day? and not getting any time to go out during the week? and gettin up early? lol i sleep in to 10 most days...

Hey well actually at my highschool in The HSC course there are both foriehgners and Dropkicks :D I wanna got to TAFE because i want my choice and freedom and i think i would respond better to an adult learning environment. Some people (ike you) just go well ith high school, Others (me & freddie here :p) dont.

no worries, it's nice to see someone trying something different :) and you'll probably find that you'll learn alot more at TAFE, just because most of the people there all want to get somewhere in life! lol
good luck :)

Hey guys! Just an Update! Im 3 weeks away from sitting my school certificate and am 6 days away from my TAFE interveiw. To answer my own question basically they wont me to prove to them (at the interveiw) that i can cope in an Adult Environment. Im guessing they'll ask me questions about why i wnana be there and not Highschool etc. When it comes to taking "young" year 10 leavers such as myself they only take a handfull. I cant see why i wouldnt get in and im keeping my Fingers crossed. But should the lightning strike and me not get in? Then ill be looking into my Local Senior college. I am really hoping i get in however as i am really looking forward to the environmnet that TAFE brings.

PEACE! :D

Curious.

How does scaling work at TAFE?

Like, are all the institutions on the school rank list?
Not sure. Are you reffering to accelerating? Becaus ei have no idea. Im going to the interveiw tommorrow and am a little nervous. I wonder if i get in, when the'll want me to pick my subjects..
