Taj Mahal 'on verge of collapse'

The Taj Mahal could collapse within five years because the wooden foundations it is built on have dried out and are rotting.

The Daily Mail reports conservations are urging the Indian Government to prevent a growing environmental catastrophe.

It is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the world and is located in Agra, India.
The Taj Mahal is a World Heritage Site built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

Built between 1632 and 1653, it is the finest example of Mughal architecture.
It combines elements from Persian, Islamic and Indian architectural styles.
Impressive in size yet delicately beautiful, the Taj Mahal is renowned as a symbol of eternal love.

However, cracks appeared last year in parts of the tomb, and its four minarets are showing signs of tilting.

Around four million people visit it each year, making it India's most popular tourist attraction.

False news article. That area gets aftershocks/minor earthquakes that occur mostly in the Himalyan region. Being approximately 4 centuries old, there ought to be some damage over time. The curators take necessary action to uphold the strength of the monument. They have taken extreme care in the past when there have been higher risks to the structure. Heavy restoration was done in 2007. Plus, the foundations are not of wood. In those times, for bigger structures, they used to dig several gorges/'wells' and fill it with sand/rock concrete. The structure was built on these gorges. Oh well, damn 'media' these days.

What up gangstaarrrrs,
