It's an economic waste of resources. If we remove compulsory school attendance, i.e. abolish truancy law. And if we remove other laws that prove to be restrictions on learning and the availability/accessibility of information and education, i.e. IP laws, we'd have a far smarter group of people.

Teacher's Unions are a manifestation of the negatives of government intervention. As stated before, the main incentives usually revolve around money as opposed to teaching. Competition in the free market sees teacher's be payed based on their skills and methods, as opposed to what we have now, a guaranteed, secure payment whereby a teacher's capabilities isn't a main determinant/often overlooked resulting in teachers getting comfortable.

Removing funding propels this notion of competition, you work hard, you receive a fair share. In turn, not only does this boost the quality of a student's education, it also means teacher's tailor their lessons in accordance with the student's needs and wants dispelling of this governmental curriculum that waste's time.
And of course for-profit education institutions have clearly a great rep of working out...

Seriously, how can you not see that that's a terrible idea. School's will have profit their number one priority and education second.

I strongly believe education should be free, or at least as close to that as possible. But I do believe that currently there's a lot of waste going on and there could be a much more efficient system of learning and teaching put in place (note that this has nothing to do with how the funds for this are obtained).

Of course they don't, once more, it's attributed to the truancy laws and the absence of the free market.

It is about profit, but the free market promotes competition and subsequently the tailoring to consumer wants/needs becomes a main priority. Are you so ignorant that you can't make that simple connection? Yes, profit is a main incentive, however, you can't slack off and expect money to be handed to you. Providing topnotch, quality education will result in a growing consumer base as such services have a higher demand. Refer to my prior posts if you seek edification, this time, actually read what I've got to say.

I've made it abundantly clear to you that education in the free market will come at a low-to-no cost. This is through the removal of IP laws and greater access being granted to those seeking education.

I'll copy and paste something my friend sent me the other day, hopefully it clears things up for you:

Sure teachers would still be payed, but the concept for supply and demand is big in free market competition. Private schools will outbid for students in order to make money compared to today where you pay boat loads to get in under our corporation led economy.

if price high, then demand low
if price low, then demand high

Making stupid remarks without thinking, or simply doing so hoping you come off as 'cool', doesn't help your case.

I'm not here to condemn, I'm here to convert. There's enough laissez-faire capitalism for all of us.

I wasn't trying to help you.

I'm definitely not a troll. I understand that many people don't agree with my views but that's their problem, not mine.

People should take responsibility for their own education. Your education is your problem, not the government's. I don't want my taxes paying for someone else's education, especially if I don't care about them.

There are always going to be charities who will run schools for little to no cost so I highly doubt that people will miss out on school because they can't afford it. Also, if people want to commit crimes then that is their problem. They'll soon realise that there are consequences for stupid decisions.

If people want to do things just for money, that's fine. If you don't like it then don't support their businesses.

If you want free education then find someone who offers free education, the government doesn't need to get involved in that.

They'll be able to access "topnotch, quality education" if you can afford it. If you can't then no they shouldn't and won't.
Saltedwound and other, since you have such views, I truly hope you will not be taking taxpayer's money when you attend uni.

You'll be paying your 40k fees upfront of course? And to do that, you surely have nearly that much saved up right now, right?

Don't compare me with saltedwound, the guy evidently has no economic sense and feels as if his authoritative views render him superior and unique.

And no, that's not how it works. It's as if to say because I believe in anarcho-capitalism, if my house catches fire, I'll refuse help from firefighters. You make do. Our current economic system is evidently not one of capitalism, why should I make it out to be. There's no harmonious interdependence of monetary characteristics, pretending there is doesn't help me.

Seriously, read Adam Smith, Mises, anyone from the Austrian School of Economics and then you'll understand the true beauty and efficiency of laissez-faire capitalism. Government meddling in the economy is absolutely ridiculous as it violates Adam Smith's concept of monetary 'Natural Law' and yadda yadda yadda.

What do you mean that's not how it works?

So you WANT government provided money for your education???? That's completely against what you've been trying to argue FOR.

I'm trying to show you that you clearly don't have the money to pay for your education, thus in your imagination of a world you'd get NO education. Just like the majority of people.

lol you're such a hypocrite.

I'm sorry if the way I phrased it seemed discombobulating, it was around 12am when I composed the message.

What I'm trying to say is that such high fees wouldn't exist in a system of pure capitalism, simply paying however much tuition is demanded of me doesn't mean I'm sticking to my guns. It's just a scheme made feasible by our current system of corporatism. So, no, I'm not a hypocrite.

It's unreasonable/ignorant to hone in any one aspect of either system and then trying to appropriate and extrapolate what it entails. I've already made it clear why the free market is far superior to the current greed fuelled, corporate rule we have established.

i don't think the dj idea is very feasible lol besides that it doesn't sound very appealing, would get old real fast. but it's not a bad idea in general

im pree sure some schools like baulko actually rent out their basketball courts on weekends and afterschool, so I think you could probably have some kind of renting out of sports facilities, or even like drama or dance facilities. but yeah there are still like admin and supervisory costs.
would never even close to government funding numbers though, it would be more like a minor fundraising kind of thing
Yeah...I mean after school hours and on the weekends, you could use some of the rooms and turn them into mini casinos and rip everyone off lmao

The canteen/cafeteria which everyone uses at school could be used as a cafe

And the other remaining rooms can be used as a gym

Say a school has 50 rooms:
20 can be used as a gym
20 can be used as a casino to rip everyone off
10 can be used as a DJ/music room

The canteen can be used as a mini restaurant/cafe
The hall can be used as a gym by day, DJ by night
The sports field can be used as a mini farm
All remaining space can be used to display artworks and sell food

That way schools don't have to rely on government funding 100% of the time

I think government funding should be used only for teachers pay. Everything else (i.e. building, resources, decent equipment, etc) should be relied on the schools themselves to rely on

As for ppl financially struggling, they should get government assistance

Yeah I know. Just use the school as a business so then they don't have to rely too much on government funding

Think of the simpsoms episode where Springfield elementary was bankrupt and then they started using their school as a jail in order to be sufficiently self funded (can't remember the episode since it's been ages since I've seen it lol)

So then you can rip everyone off in order to fund your own school

Casino machines are designed to ensure that ppl lose money so then the business can make a profit from that therefore why not put one in a school

Also it's a waste of space when no one uses some space efficiently and effectively
