Searching for An Australian Identity: Are Anglo-Celtics considered to be the only true Australians?

My P.I.P looks at the renowned identity of Australia as white/Caucasian country, and questions whether all ethnicities represent Australia at an equal level to the Anglo Celts.

ahaha a girl in my class is doing a PIP which is basically ALL about twilight. im sure there'll be thousands of them this year. poor marker.

Oh, I was also going to look at Twilight in mine, haha.
"How and why do teenagers relate to fictional characters in literature?"
I now start to feel sorry for the markers, woops.

FANthropology: the study of fan cultures, their physical characteristics and the unique non-biological characteristics we call culture. Focusing on fandom as a subculture and consequently fandom as a socialising agent.
Um. I kind of love you. And hate you. Because I wish I thought of that topic -___-. Anyway, good luck with your PIP, it definitely sounds like it'll be an interesting one!

The representation of homosexuality in popular television, and whether it influences stereotypes/society's percpetions of the GLBT community.

I don't know, I have a feeling mine is too broad and overdone. Especially with the whole 'media influence' - from what I gather, it's done quite a bit.

What does everyone else think?
Great, that's like... exactly my PIP. This will be fun!

Not quite, mine's "the impact of gender on perceptions of gay men and lesbians, and the media's role in these perceptions"

Oh well, hello GLBT buddy.

Holy crap, I didn't realise how much my PIP topic has changed since then. I actually ended up doing the impacts of gay organisations and events the identity development of gay youth instead.

Handed my PIP in this morning, so hopefully it'll get a decent mark.

I like your topic though! It sounds much better than my idea involving media and perceptions on the GLBT community. Good luck with yours!

Put your left foot in, and put your right foot out...

The Front Door Syndrome: How has it influenced the dual identities of second-generation Vietnamese Australians residing in South-West Sydney?

So glad the PIP is finally over!

Omg, this just reminded me of a discussion my class had during English Extension today about Crime Writing...

Jack the Ripper.

Fuck me, how did you ethically research that? o_O

With great difficulty! :mad1: Haha. I had a focus group and some questionnaires. Four days of handing out questionnaires in my town and I got 154 back. Devastated considering I handed out about 400.
I wanted to interview prostitutes but figured the markers probably wouldn't really deem that appropriate.
In retrospect, probably not the best PIP topic ever.

Perhaps not, but if you managed to pull it off in an ethical manner it really doesn't matter (probably best you didn't interview a sex worker :p). I did my PIP on raves which is also one of those ethically dubious topics but still did well, its all in the word tweaking.

i can't remember my quesiton exactly but it was something along the lines of "homeschooling: why do the negative stereotypes exist?"
it was advocating homeschooling, rather exploring the stereotypes that non-homeschoolers hold and why, and their effect.
