Some of you guys really need to expand your horizon, try Ai Yori Aoshi, Haruhi, Hayate the Combat Butler, Tora Dora!, Cowboy Bebop, Lucky Star, FLCL etc rather than your generic everyday shonen anime.
Who says we don't watch a range of anime? >_>
FYI; this is the list of anime that i've watched.
- Shakugan no Shana <3
- FMA
- DBZ
- Code Geass
- Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
- Macross Frontier
- Fushugi yuugi
- Fruits Basket
- Byousoku 5cm (5cm per second. A movie)
- Bamboo Blade
- Gundam 00
- Love Hina
- Lovely Complex
- Clannad
- Claymore
- Melanchony of Haruhi Suzumiya
- Ouran High School Host Club
- Soul Eater
- Tales of the Abyss
- Toaru majutsu no Index
- True Tears
- FF Unlimited
- BECK - Mongolian chop squad
- Also various miyazki movies

and some bleach, naruto but mainly reading their manga.
I've probably forgotten some anime i've watched, but oh wellz.

Just go it. bit by it. It'll end soon- don't look at it as a whole but rather steps that you can step up, bit by bit and you'll get there :)

Some people have some awesome lifestyles going around here.
i can definitely cut out alot of animes to watch because only some out there have english dubs.
cant bear watching anime in japanese which also contains engrish.

however,
the emphasis on japanese culture in 'Lucky Star' after watching a dozen episodes has left me to judge it is better off watched in japanese.

anime such as dbz and naruto just arent worth watching, on the other hand...

look for differential equations, physical constants, symbols etc. in the background of the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya intro.

short but sweet anime.

EDIT: this thread should be revived more often.

Re: 回复: Re: The Anime Thread

I personally prefer watching anime with English subtitle.

Dub is absolutely useless.

Dubs = unrealistic.

They tend to leave out some funny and meaningful parts in which they cannot translate to English

Depending on the Dubbing Company, they would usually leave the references to Japanese Aspects and Culture (Kabuki, Culture festivals etc). Yes, Puns are usually lost in translation but I don't think anyone who's not fluent in Japanese would get them anyway.

I prefer Dubs to Sub only if the only real major change is the voice actors. When original content is removed or edited to a severe extent in the dub (Say Cardcaptor Sakura, or Warriors of the Wind for example) then I'd have a problem.

Re: 回复: Re: The Anime Thread

without translators notes a lot is often lost anyway.

hence why fansubs are often even better IMO than some industry ones.

PS dub can be handy, like when you're trying to watch anime and do something else at the same time & they aren't all bad some of them are actually quite watchable.
