re: The Official Cricket Thread

Ronald needed a 5 wicket haul and it didn't come, Bracken shouldn't be brought in, his consistent change of pace not as nearly be effective in Tests as it is ODI's.

McGain/Hopes to replace Ronnie

True, he tied up one end, but he's not a real wicket -taker. His batting has been poor and he's been picked as an all-rounder hence why i think he should be dropped and honestly Hopes is in much better form, 9 wickets and 55 against NSW in shield match.

The day that Pakistani Cricket died?
Not necessarily the end of the Pakistan cricket team, for now. I can't see them holding any series of any kind in Pakistan, as there was concern for a long while, and these attacks have only validated the concerns.

I'd say the Pakistani cricket team may survive for a while by moving any series outside of their country, but I can't see this would only really provide a bandaid solution.

He bowled a great spell without a doubt, but as has been mentioned, he has been picked as an allrounder, not a bowler.

Johnson's form with the bat brings into question the need to pick an allrounder. Has he performed well enough over a period to be considered an allrounder, or is not there yet, and if he is, do we drop a McDonald and pick another bowler?
He's been picked at 8 so he's a bowling allrounder he's had only two digs and hasn't scored but he deserves his spot for the next test at least

Johnson is not an all rounder yet, This is exactly what happened to Lee quite a few years back so only time will tell. Our batting line-up has alot of depth anyway, so you'd pick another bowler, so you'd bring in McGain, Dougie or if your remotely worried about the batting line-up, Hopes

Aussies look to be off to a good start.

0/98 after only an hour and a half.

Want Hughes to go on and get a century.

How good would a comprehensive series win be here for the Aussie team. Considering the hiding they've copped from the media, it'd do them the world of confidence and would sap a fair bit of SA's confidence in the process.

Keep it going boys!

Really? Cricinfo was saying it's the other hand? Who cares.

They are in effect, 4/6. This is amazing.
my bad, yeah it was the other hand.

Sounds like it's turning into a pretty iffy wicket to play on though.

What the hell is happening to the Saffas?

Two in hospital, one confirmed broken something, the other doesn't look good. Effectively 6/64.

Not a good sign for Smith. That's a big loss, looks like he's out for the series (if it continues past this match).

Um, ok...

"Past this match" means whether the series continues past this match. As in, if the saffas win this match, the series continues. If aus win it, then the series is wrapped up.

Made sense to me.
