Jarno Trulli is widely regarded as Formula One's premier one-lap specialist. He just has some trouble translating it into race pace.

Yeah, he is a consistent qualifier - but I'll still be watching him when the first round of pit stops come around.

I am a recent follower of the sport, and I am aware that Ten does broadcast, but it is at like 1 or 2 am, which I would like to avoid if possible. Is it replayed on Austar at a more paletable time?

Just for the topic at hand, I was surprised that Trulli was up in the grid, as you suggested it is probable he does not have fuel enough for more than a handful of laps. Aside from him being at fifth, it appears as if the grid is as per usual, although I was surprised Rosberg was down at sixteenth? He placed in Melbourne and drove a good race, I wonder what the story is there?

However, I do hold out hope that BMW wins, or at least places.

Nope. Network Ten have the broadcast rights, so they'll broadcast whenever they feel like it. Then again, I don't have Austar, so I wouldn't know for sure.

It could be anything: bad set-up, bad-run, bad timing. I know the circuit has been resurfaced - it's been begging for it for a long time now - and that's been wreaking havoc with a few teams as well. Rosberg could simply have been out on the circuit and had traffic woes, or made a mistake.

One of the best websites for F1 stuff is F1 @ GP Update as they have news every day and usually get it up quickly. This is what Rosberg had to say about it:

"Can't believe how it went today," Rosberg said. "I came here from a podium finish a few days ago and now I qualify 16th, although I felt my last flying lap was pretty good. Our car doesn't seem to like the new asphalt they laid on this track at all. It's just too smooth and it doesn't make our tyres work properly, so I am just sliding everywhere. It will be tough tomorrow starting from this position, but our car should be better in racing conditions. And maybe some rain might help us!"

It also seem that Heikki and Hamilton have been summoned before the stewards on a charge of blocking (but one of their accusers is Alonso ...). If found guily, they could be bumped back up to ten places for tomorrow's race.

As opposed to what? The '07 edition? Or did you have plans for something like BAT-7? I suppose he gets first pick of the car set, too? That's only a problem if he's collecting data beforehand like I do, and he can still be beaten. Make sure you save that seat for me, whatever you get (unless it's the Aguris or Fifis, which are crap).

Nope. However, if you have a decent internet speed you can stream it over the net. Itv have started a service since Aus which allows you to stream and Fp1 and Fp2 have absolutely no commentary! Its fantastic!!

F1 86 is rough. I did it in DNF World Championship II: Electric Boogaloo, and you'll get an incredible number of failures going (without trying). Mind you, I now know the right driver traits to use.

A1's not that bad because it's only you in the team. I'm in a public game racing as A1 Team Bolivia and it's actually been alright. I just can't seem to find pace, though.

Whatever you do, make sure you get a good team. And make sure you save me that seat.

Wow, Nick, if that's what you call blocking ... okay, the McMercs were going awful slow to save fuel, but I think it's more a case of you encountered them in the wrong place at the wrong time.

'86 isn't that bad! I get more frustrated with '07 than what I ever have with '86. More frustrating is finishing 7th just outside the points. More mechanical breakdowns in '07 than '86 too

I might consider saving you a seat, only if you are nice!

Who knows what will happen about Heidfeld's and Alonso's complaints. They were the only 2 that were still on a flying lap, everyone had already done theirs *shrugs* But then again, Lewis is involved, so probably no penalties Can't have golden boy Lewis penalised

That blocking incident did not seem to be anything too drastic, however I do think that Heidfeld's line was disrupted, and a number of the other cars were on the other side to the McLarens, so there maybe a case for them to answer. I would be interested to see what Alonso's gripe is, to see if it was any worse than that.

I still laugh at pople who were thoroughly convinced that the FIA was unfairly assisting Hamilton last year because he was doing so well. They even had n elaborate theory about how the penalty for Spygate was deliberately made to help Hamilton's title chances.

My only worry about this incident is that Alonso is trying to unfairly get one over his old team.

I think that's a fair enough penalty, I bet Ferrari are happy. Moves The BMW's up three places, considering Trulli will have to pit after two laps .

I wonder will we see a one stop race for the McLarens?

Mclaren can't change to a 1 stop strategy, they are stuck with whatever fuel strategy they have decided, the cars are now in parc ferme where only adjustments can me made under supervision by the FIA, no fuel can be added. Their only hope for a podium tomorrow is variable weather conditions, and with it being Malaysia, its highly possible; I just hope the safety car (if there is one) completely screws Lewis up for once!

The actual race is at 6pm ... however it won't be shown on TV until after 11pm Bloody useless idiots!

No; Channel Ten broadcast when they want to, and that's usually long after the results are known. In fact, the only time you'll get it live is when it's the European rounds, because they're not on until 2am our time. It'll really be at about 5 or 6pm our time.

If you want to keep up-to-date, try Formula .com's Live Timing. You'll need to register and it's basically just telemetry - sector and lap times - with a running commentary, and it updates pretty frequently. You don't get any images, but then, you don't get any brown-nosing of Hamilton.

You mean American rounds, not European rounds? Saying that, the idiots at Channel 10 still decided to somehow delay the Brazilian GP last year, by over an hour.

Maybe; I wouldn't know. There used to be an American driver for Toro Rosso last year - Scott Speed (yes, that's his real name) - and he generated a bit of interest, but he's since been dropped as he was one of he most underperforming drivers on the grid. That, combined with the loss of the United States Grand Prix at the Indianapolis road circuit, probably makes most Amercan broadcasters apathetic towards broadcasting the races. Sebastien Bourdais might trigger a bit of intrest as he was in American open-wheel racing, but he's French, so I doubt he'll have much of an impact on the likes of Fox. If the broadcast, it will likely be delayed, which is why Live Timing is probably your best bet if you want to followit but can't stream the broadcast online.

F1 - specifically the Australian Grand Prix are on the anti-siphoning list; which means, Channel 10 have the priority rights over any Paytv stations. Because you just can't purchase the rights to the Australian Grand Prix, you have to purchase the rights from Formula One Management to every single round of the championship. Channel 10 are really a bunch of idiots, they bought the rights solely for the Aus GP, and in the process we all get screwed over for every race which isn't in Aus because shows like Big Bother have priority
