Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Don't beleive the hype. One player does not make a team.

course not

but that one player earns 6 times as much as the entire adelaide squad, which makes their 3-0 win pretty impressive imo

Gold Coast United and North Queensland Fury.

Nice to see another club with a proper name (GCU). They've made some good signings too, including Jess Van Strattan (ex-Juventus keeper), Adam Griffiths, James Brown (no, not that one. one of the young socceroos), Shane Smeltz and three Brazillians (not sure how they are, but they have a coach with a great eye for talent)

For those of you not familiar with Miron Bleiberg, we are in for a season or two of hilarious press conferences.

Meanwhile, over at North Queensland "Fury"...

Lad? Pretty sure last time I checked I haven't changed sex to male...

But on other news, it was sad to say goodbye to (now former) Jets Captian Jade North last night, he is a great player and wonderful representative of Australian football, all us Jets fans wish him the best of luck in Korea.

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Despite persistent rumours, Jason Culina is not moving to Gold Coast United - SBS The World Game - Culina staying abroad

Also, 37-year old Fox Sports pundit Spencer Prior came very close to joining Newcastle today:

THE Newcastle Jets' bare-bones roster is set to receive some much-needed flesh in the shape of former Manchester City defender Spencer Prior and past Adelaide striker Dez Giraldi.

Prior and Giraldi will train with the Jets today and, if all goes to plan, could be added to the squad on short-term deals in time for the away battle against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday.

A knee injury to Marko Jesic and the departure this week of captain Jade North to Korea had left the embattled A-League champions with just 14 players for the trip across the Tasman.

Apparently the move has fallen through though, according to sources Prior wasn't up to scratch as far as van Egmond was concerned...

We'll hopefully get some good players before ACL campaign starts in 09, would've been great to get Yorke.
