Well this question was OK, could have been better. I just babbled on about how different historians will interpret the case study in different ways as a result of context, values, experiences. Also their different methodologies, aims and purposes ment that we would be shown different aspects of the case study, and that the historians are important because they interpret the past, yet their views are 'inherently subjective', therefore to study the past, study the historian blah blah...

What did everyone else do?? What did you all think of the question?

Yer I said the historian is of integral importance because their social and ideological contexts influence their collection and analysis of evidence. And thus we need to understand this is we want to make an accurate judgment regarding the veracity of each interpretation.

i HATED the question...i didn't really study much on that kind of stuff. I mainly just rambled about how the background of the historian effected what they wrote and how they interpreated Elizabeth's actions. It was really general, i have a bad feeling i misquoted more then once, but its over now.

i did JFK and focussed on the contrasting opinions of othodox and revisionist historians..basically just wrote that the historian is influenced by context/ their intended audience... used examples and blah..

As I studied Jesus, it was easy for me to say that historians were important because of a lack of historical evidence/data, thus we rely on historians' interpretations of what little there is.

i thought it was pretty good, just talked about how you need to look at the historians in contrast to their interpretations and what influences etc they had on them.
I had a good quote from E.H. Carr to use, "facts without the historian are dead and meaningless"

I did the History wars, where our Historians are of pivotal importance because in Australia History is politics, and politicians need history to justify the course they tread through the minefield of Aboriginal policy.
