would anyone know how to explain this in simple terms??....i find it really confusin to understand...

Post WW2 everyone thought that communism was going to take over the world all religions in Australia did esp the catholics. well, down in Melbourne in the 1950's BA santamaria formed 'The movemnet' which was to counter the communist threats in the trade unions. The labor party didnt like this so it split into the ALP and DLP in 1952 or 1954 i think 4. for awhile there were two parties but inthe 1970's the DLP died. this split futher broke down the idea that catholics voted for labor and protestants for liberal. the end.

Why did they have to split from the Communists? It really bothers me.

And why were they called the democratic labour party?

Did anyone here Bob Brown being called a Communist today? His response was great.

(Yes, I am admitting that contemporary China is a dictatorship. I miss Yanan.)
