Is it just me or does anyone else find it hard to sleep before an exam?

I find myself either staying awake until around 2am and eventually 'passing out'; or sleeping for 2 hours and waking up and finding it very hard to get back to sleep.

I am going to bed around 9:30/10:00 (what my body is use to)

Does anyone have any techniques on how they sleep the night before an exam?
I would say i'm pretty relaxed. I do some study before bed and then read the newspaper or something, and i'm tired, but just can't sleep.

I slept like a baby before Paper 2, but it took a while before Paper 1.

Don't force yourself to sleep - you'll only get light, poor quality sleep. Study until you feel tired, and then go to bed and read something until your eyes invoultarily close and you can't keep them open.

I dont sleep very well, and its even worse before exams, i normally wake automatically at around 4amish the day of an exam, so i try and sleep earlier at around 11 and i take my notes to bed until i just fall asleep.

Lol, i do that all the time, except i always wake up sleeping on top of a book, which is not so comfortable.

I just study until about 1am, and then hit the hay. Open the window and get some fresh air in - that helps.

If you feel really anxious about the exam, browse /b/ - that'll get your mind off it ;)

I slept at 3am and 4am for the english paper 1 and 2 exams respectively. Don't think that'll happen with my other subjects, as by then I hopefully won't need to complete any notes or whatever at the last minute, unlike those two exams.

i can NEVER sleep before any of the HSC exams...
so i plan it that i sleep as much as i can during the day, and stay up all night till exam time... then go to sleep after exam... etc etc.

it works :)

Edit: Only problem is.... ive lost all track of time.... i thought paper 2 was on sunday :S..

Eh. I sleep fine.
Went to bed around 9-10pm before both the english exams, and woke up at 5 to study - I am MUCH better first thing in the morning, than late at night when I should be asleep! Just went over my notes and stuff.
However before Senior Science... I went to bed at 9 and woke up at aruond 9 (exam was at 2pm) and just screwed around until the exam haha. Meh.

I have no trouble sleeping, I tend to get tired around 9-10pm now anyway. Fell asleep last night around 9:30 involuntarily.

Sooo glad I don't have that problem!
Sorry guys. :(

xx

Haven't had a problem getting to sleep yet. I just stay awake until I'm tired, usually around about 10 or 11, then go to bed and sleep.

Yeah I'm terrible - I get little sleep anyway, and the night before exams I get 1-2hours (I start obsessing over what the time is) my advise is take an MP3 player or CD walkman to bed with you and listen to some music for awhile. If you're STILL really stressed over it watch some episodes of a TV show you like - you'll relax and it will start straining your eyes making you want to sleep more = P

If you're in need of some eye strain get yourself addicted to Guitar Hero! Serious. On some of the harder songs where you don't have time to blink i end up with tears pouring down my face cause my eyes get so sore.. Although i must admit, being addicted to GH during the HSC exams is probably not the best idea. ( i know from experience)

Legham, do you sleep at all on the night before the exam, or do you just study till morning and sleep afterwards?

Yeah, i do that. Except for one of the english exams, i ran out of texts to read, so instead of preparing an essay i had a nap for an hour or so.. but i usually dont have time for that.
