Wow. Just hope that nothing Materazzi has said is going to tarnish the tournament (if it already isn't).

Italy slight favourites in terms of confidence here?

Fuckin Grosso. He just had to rub it in by kicking the winner, ey? Cunt.

Fuckin commentator jinxed it for France with his '12 year' pattern for Italy bullshit!!

Goodbye Zidane! You will be missed. Thanks for the memories, mate. You shall be remembered for the many positive things you contributed to the beautiful game and not for your one act of stupidity.

taly wins the world cup finals on penalties, 5-3 against france. nonetheless, it was one of the most brilliant games of soccer i have ever seen. aside from the technicalities and injuries, that game epitomises soccer as "the beautiful game".

france dominated the game, but failed to score when the opportunities arose. henry didnt really put in 100%. if he did, then the result would have been different.

and zidane's red-card send off...dont really know what to say. he did headbutt and cause 'injury'. could it be a dive? who knows?

if zidane stayed on, the result could have been different...but who knows?

congratulations to italia!i

The headbutt was deliberate. Everyone knows it. There was no going back for Zadine. But to end his career like that. Shame.
He's still a ledgend to the French team, and to soccer-
Although, plenty of people are speculating what was actually said to Zadine.

God damnit I hate penalty shoot-outs.
Should be a re-match if still tie after extra time.
Penalty shoot out isn't what should be a world cup decider.
Stupid Gits.

Hopefully Zidane does not get remembered by that incident. I am sincerly hoping that the Italian did not say anything racist to Zidane, because if so, he deserves alot more than a headbutt to the body.

Well, Me thinks, along with alot of people- that it was a racist comment.
Hence the sharp words between the two.
Commentators thinking it was racist as well.

It's of course- not fair that anyone should say something like that, but headbutting... That's pushing it too far. On the feild, in game time.
During your last match... Where France is needing a boost.
Sucks to be him right now.
Although, as dissapointing as it was, Zadine wont be remembered as the 'guy that headbutted an Italian in the World Cup Final in Berlin'- heh.

I was surprisingly going for Italy. I knew that it was that sort of luck for the Aussies, that the team that they had beat wins. Also, who else to kick the winning penalty? Fuckin Grosso.

I'm damn disappointed at the way this ended and shocked at what happened to Zidane. A sad way to end a career but I'm sure he'll be remembered much more for what's his done before this rather than this last moment of madness.

I'm still wondering what was said that made Zidane see red...

I reckon it was probably a racist comment.

Wouldn't put it past Materazzi - one of the dirtiest players in football.
