heey. i was in the USAiii for a while. i did the night tour of LA and saw the roxy and the whiskey, but it's just not 1985 anymore and there are few rockstars out on a weekday night.

and ive posted in here before. #13. woot.

guns n roses. oooh yeah. velvet revolver does a pretty good gnr cover. i mean, the only difference is scott weiland's voice and kusher instead of izzy... but it's still orgasmic. closest i'll ever come to hearing gnr live.

Whilst I just said he is better than slash on a technical level, I believe that there is more to playing guitar than simply being able to hit the notes, and slash plays with more soul and personality which far outweighs buckethead.
Totally agree
I look at it this way - Buckethead may be technically more proficient, but then, how many kickass Buckethead solos or riffs do people know?
Also, how many more people would play guitar because of Slash than Buckethead?

thats a bit of an unfair comparison.

i mean slash was in a band that was the biggest band in the world with tonnes of air play in the late 80's and early 90's. ofcourse everyone knows who slash is and the riffs.

now you could say.......well buckethead isn't good enough to be on the radio but we all know that bands on the radio are the greatest.

im guessing a lot of you haven't heard all of bucketheads albums.

the whole strip was pretty notorious back in the day. the whiskey, the roxy, the troubadour, and a whole bunch of places that closed. the rainbow bar and grill is sort of across the road from the whiskey (if my memory of research for my ee2 serves we well).

and VR will be back. next album, next tour. as long as none of em die, and they seem to be avoiding death pretty well.

Well I have....

I compare it as closer to techno played on the guitar than rock n roll.

Dont get me wrong, I admire his ability as something out of this world, but like I dont listen to this kinda music to be impressed by a musicians ability. I listen to it because I like the culture, showmanship and class of a good rock band. And buckethead just doesn't have this.

Thats what he lacks. He hasn't got a rock n roll bone in his body. Slash is such a bluesy guitarist, that he oozes rock n roll

I absolutely adore Gunners.

I hate how mainstream, commercialised music like Simple Plan have taken over many peoples Ipods and CD players!

They need to get back to listening to REAL music.

The audience always wants something new. Imagine you have been listenning to every beat of Manowar; every movement of Iron Maiden; every word from Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd. Imagine you've observed all the madness & desire the Doors after 10, 15 years loving Jim Morrison.
Many people don't "get back to listening to REAL music", they want something new, something contemporary rather than to adore the past.

I think its not a matter of liking older music, its about liking real music. Not just Guns N Roses, but bands which are real. Like simple plan? What the fuck is that shit? Same with the dozens of manufactured bands out there.

Guns N' Roses did get a bit commercialised in the end, but that doesn't matter, because they were always real. They were always the guys who were just riding this wave. Not a bunch of emo punks who caught onto a craze after their record company told them to.

I agree with you & beckywecky that the quality of contemporary bands can no way be compared with our rock gods. However, we shouldn't judge on people's taste. If the new generation likes punk, there's totally nothing wrong with that. The artists have to satisfy their audience, consequently there's nothing wrong with 'em going punk.
Man, do you remember how conservative people in the 50s used to be unreasonably intolerant with RocknRoll. We're not this silly, arent we?

I know what you are saying, and I agree, but then the thing is that there is no differnce between a band like simple plan, and a band like the monkees. They come from different eras but represent the same thing. Only one form of popular music has lasted, and thats rock and roll, anything else is just a fad in the pop world. Bands like simple plan are nothing more than a fad

... I just wanted to quote a guy at work today when i put on Apetite For Destruction

"Id prefer Aqua to this crap"

:(:(:(:(

I couldnt think of anything to say i was in such shock, so i just went with "YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOO GAY!!!" took the cd out (he was so not worthy!) and said that we werent going to listen to any music until he appologised.

Oh geez and Gnrlies are you saying there is no such thig as music genres and musical preference and TALLENT!

Shut the hell up, youre making your self look stupid.

If youre going to make a comment justify it. I mean Slash is the greatest guitar god of all time, meanwhile the Monkeys didnt play their own instuments.

YEAH THEY COMPARE!

not!
