The labour party was made up of Trade Unions with Communist leaders.. Because catholics were low on the economic ladder, Catholic bishops said they supported the notion of socialism which allowed poorer people to have the same opportunities as others. To over come communist parties, B A Santamaria covertly lead 'The Movement' which involved nominating Catholics to be the new leaders of the unions and the Bishops ad Priests encouraged catholics to vote for them. When the Labour party found out, the party was split into the Democratic Labour Party and the other (i cant rememeber!
