hey guys
has anyone heard of the SAT exam?? my grandparents want me to do it so my family could move to US when i go uni cuz all my family and stuff is there.
umm.. is anyone else going for it?
does anyone know anything about it?? i'm so confused...

The SAT. Yeah, I've heard of them, but no need to sit for them myself. Mainly used by the American universities and colleges to help then decide which students can come into those particular universities and colleges.

The SATs consists of three sections: Maths, Critical Reading and Writing, which includes an essay. Maximum score in each section is 800 points, therefore the maximum total accumulated score is 2400. Within each of the three major sections there are 3 sub-sections, plus Section 10, which is a 10 minute writing section. The test goes on for 3 hours and 45 minutes on the day which the test is held.

When are you moving? I dont think any schools offer it in NSW, theres only IB and HSC as far as i know in NSW you would prob have to a special college in sydney to do it.

If you can do the HSC they will calculate your UAI and convert it to the tertiary mark at the university. UAI is accepted by over 60 countries and most american uni's so i dont see why you have to do SAT.

I heard that it's on in October every year, and you can attempt it for unlimited number of times until you think you've achieved the scores you want. There are also SAT II, ACT, and other tests. The SAT is not like the HSC or IB as you don't need to do a course for it (so the fact that "no schools offer it" doesn't matter ), but only need to sign up and...do it Maybe ask about it at the American consulate in Sydney? You might need appointments though.
