Since I have some free time, I'll post the subjects I've done and the scaling:

All Chinese courses = no scaling -> sum of your raw marks.

ACCT1501 - scaled down (iirc)
ECON1101 - no scaling
MATH1151 - didn't scale up much
MATH1251 - scaled up, but not as good as MATH1241
FINS1613 - scaled up largely due to taking it in semester 2
ACTL1001 - scaled up due to a hard final exam
MATH2011 - no scaling - sum of your raw marks
MATH2901 - scaled up very little due to good cohort
MATH2501 - iirc scaled down
MATH2931 - scaled up A LOT - even more scaling up last year
MATH3161 - didn't scale
CHEM1011 - scaled up a bit
PHYS1121 - didn't scale
ENGG1811 - scaled up between 1-2 marks
ENGG1000 - no scaling
GEOS1111 - no scaling
GEOS3321 - no scaling
CEIC2001 - no scaling

All PTRL courses do not scale and are generally the sum of your raw marks. They may choose to change weightings of particular assessment tasks when things don't go well.

wat

mark said there was no scaling in it?
I was the first cohort to do MMAN2300 (it was previously MMAN3300), so we were either marked easier or there was some minimal scaling. It was still a very hard course.

We also had an extremely different structure to assessments and tests - we had group quizzes that accounted for 30% of our mark. We had to make videos and do peer marking that contributed to another 30%. We had a points system for tutorials that was meant to count towards our mark. Needless to say, we destroyed them in our CATEI feedback of how irresponsibly structured this course was.

Adding courses that haven't been talked about:
MATH2111 - decent-good upwards scaling
MATH2601 - no scaling
MATH2621 - no scaling really
MATH2221 - no scaling (so easy though. very easy HD if you learn the methods)
ACTL2111 - no scaling
ACTL2102 - no scaling

and they say have faith in scaling in actuarial courses :'(

Solid posts, 4025808, nightweaver and D94!! (Y) (Y) Very Useful. Repped you three, except D94 - "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to D94 again."

Just to add in some other subjects:

ACCT1511 - haven't done this course yet, but I hear no scaling (for SEM2 at least)
ACTL1101 - has some scaling upwards but not too much (relatively easier final exam + strong cohort)
ECON1102 - no scaling, final mark is determined by the sum of your raw marks
MGMT1001 - no scaling

I've done a few courses.

COMP1917 - no scaling but easy marking.
ENGG1000 - no scaling.
MATH1141 - some scaling up.
PHYS1131 - no scaling.
ELEC1111 - no scaling.
MATH1241 - good scaling up.
MMAN1300 - no scaling.
SOLA1070 - no scaling.
MATH2019 - some scaling down.
MMAN1130 - no scaling.
MMAN2400 - no scaling.
MMAN2700 - minimal scaling up in the top range, crazy scaling up in the lower range.
MATH2089 - some scaling up.
MINE1010 - no scaling.
MMAN2100 - no scaling.
MMAN2300 - some scaling up.
MMAN2600 - no scaling.
MMAN3200 - no scaling.
MMAN3400 - minimal scaling up.
PHYS1160 - no scaling.
SOLA5057 - no scaling.
MECH3110 - no scaling.
MECH3610 - no scaling, marking criteria for the final exam effectively scaled people down :(
MECH9325 - no scaling.
MMAN3000 - no scaling.

There may be some scaling up in the lower range, but none in the top range for most courses where I've indicated no scaling.
Only a 'few'! ;) :D

serious!? they dont change the final mark of micro 1, which is considered to be one of if not the easiest first year subjects and scale down accounting of all things?! gg

That's when I did first year comm, which was back in 2012. It's been a long time since but I remember they didn't scale ECON1101 for sure, and they probably scaled ACCT1501 too in the process.

does maths1131 scale down? i'm only asking because i failed failed the maple lab test and i heard that someone who got 100% throughout the whole course only got low 90 in the end? is it still possible to get HD or even a high D, despite lets say i lose all the 8% of maple?

how much does it scale down? like raw mark to scaled mark/ like what would a 90% raw go to? out of HD??

You did the Maple test? Why didn't you say so - I supervised the test! I could've helped :(

And yes 1131 scales down.

+1. Both 1151 and 1251 ain't great in terms of scaling (I'd say 1141/1241 is much better) even though difficulty is bumped up a whole heap for final exams. Quality of students doing 1151/1251 is pretty good overall (well above average) so I can see why this would be the case (although there are some Engineering/Math geniuses I know of who did 1141/1241 and got very close to 100 overall). That said, scaling (for 1151/1251) will only help if you manage to perform decently in the final and attempt most questions (which a lot of the cohort will do), where in 1141/1241 you could probably skip an entire question and still end up with a HD.
VBN and co (e.g. 4025808, nightweaver etc), could you quantify the scaling in MATH1151? Generally, how much, if you had to have a guess?

MATH2019 - some scaling down
ACCT1501 - scaled down (iirc)
MATH2501 - iirc scaled down
Guys, I am curious. Is scaling down really fair and viable, when scaling down might lead to a student who say got 52 raw overall (and hence passed the course) receiving a Fail?? How does it work??
