Re: Woolworths FAQ- how to get a job

TFN **

And it's normal do be done in a Regional Office if there is one nearby - all the HR people work there, and will be doing your assessment (with various store managers).

You generally will do your off-job induction there too.

well my store [jannali] has 5 aisles...two are half ones (not even) so pretty much we have three aisles oh and a fruit and vegetable thing which is abt 1 square metre

but its good coz u know everyone
5 aisles- thats unbelievable. My store has 13, plus seperate deli and seafood sections, and about a sixth of the store is dedicated to fruit and veg. It's good though, because the coles in our shopping centre is absolutely tiny.

haha i've had no shifts for two weeks which did seem really bizarre.. i haven't decided whether to be happy or not :p (didn't realise how dependent i'd become on having money ><)
My shifts have been all over the place. Normally, even as a casual, I was having 5-9.30 Thursday nights and eiher 7.30-4 or 9-5.30 on a Saturday. For the past month or so, my shifts have been all over the place.

Week 1: Saturday 12.30-5.30
Week 2: Monday 3.30-6.30, Thursday 4.30-9.30, Friday 3.30-6.30, Saturday 10-6
Week 3: Saturday 9-5.30
Week 4: Saturday 9.30-5.30
Week 5 (next week): Thursday 5.30-9.30, Saturday 8-1

So as you can see, I was getting used to having the same shifts every week, even as a casual. Now, with the store cutting back hours, I feel all over the place. Maybe I should've gone part time when it was offered earlier in the year???

Anyone ever changed departments?

I'm in frontend now but I'd love to go to a fresh food department, and it seems stupid to apply for an entry level job again. Do I just rock up to bakery/deli and ask if they need people, or what?

And by the way, the section on the website for existing employees doesn't work, before you direct me there..

Perth girl- if it was me.. I wouldn't change, but that's just cos I value the extra 20% pay more than regularity of shifts, or security. But it's up to you. :)

after applying online for a specific job, how long do woolworths take to reply as it specifies that you’ll receive a reply even if you’re unsuccessful…? days, weeks.... never?

Im in Woolies....have been for nearly three years

our store (revesby) is renovating and building in a liquor land which is good i suppose....except there is a problem in the community because it is alike a cultural center thing like with a gloria jeans, subway, surf shop, baskin in robbins , bakers delight etc

there are already like 2 liquor shops on the same street anyway
Our Refurb is almost finished 3 weeks to go :)

Our store looks 3000 times better and everythings nice and new and we finally got security cameras!

Our store has 16 aisles a huge fruit and veg area and a big deli area. We also have a corner down the back for promo stuff with all the party aisle now down there.

But our store is bloody busy we pull in over a million a week and thats with jack all stuff :)

Im casual and i get 44 hours a week lol, which is good money wise. They offered me salary but it worked out more if i stayed casual. Any way next year im heading to Edith Cowan uni in Perth so god knows what im going to do!

Good thing is i know every single department in store, meat packing, bakery, deli, groc, night fill, cash office and im currentley doing systems which is a huge job lol.

WE GET A PAYRISE FROM NEXT MONDAY 1.16% or something hahaha like .20cents

Weekdays its 6pm, Thursday nights 9pm, saturdays 5pm, the few sundays we're open also 5pm.

We usually spend 20 minutes getting customers out, and then the final 10 minutes is cleaning, stock, etc. (we have very good cleaners, so we tend to leave the majority of the mess for them).

How big, as in turnover per week like 100k, 120k more etc? How many registers etc and would you have a 2ic under you?

Im a 2IC of service and im 17 and got offered S/m but to me its not going to get me very far i want to go to upper management whether its woolies or somewhere else, so i chose uni.

But if you would like to be a store service specialist or ssm or something like that, its a good way to go and you will get there quickly by proving your self.

Just out of interest does anyone know how department/store manager positions pay? I mean, would it be a worthwhile career as far as making a living goes?

We should be... to a state. Are you WA?

I haven't noticed higher wages, but then most recent payslip was week ending 3/6.

I was meant to study all weekend.. and instead I worked quite a lot. Public holiday pay ftw. =D
