I hate working at woolies simply b/c they never listen or read my available times so I'm always tired....AND I HATE BEING TIRED EVERY FU*KING DAY!
They give me more shifts than I can handle on top of full time study at uni. (I'm starting to do badly simply b/c I don't have time!)

Right now, I do half nightfill and half checkouts (I don't recommend it to anyone!!)
I'm stuck in a tug-o-war between the two b/c both are short of staff - which makes me think...wtf don't you hire more ppl!!!!???

I like nightfill for the money but the times are horrible..BUT at least it's only 4 hrs...
Checkouts are okay in very small quantities and you never know when or how long you work. So obviously nightfill will win this war....

I was thinking of telling Nightfill if I can do fri, sat, sun ONLY as the next day of each I can sleep in...

Anyone with suggestions would be great!

HELP!
wow. in perth woolies (and every other store) closes at like ... 6pm...

our store now has signs hanging from the ceiling over the produce area/entrance with the new apple/person/'W' logo and the caption 'Australia's new symbol for fresh food'

I assume a rebrand is imminent? :D is there actually a new uniform for rebranded stores???
I was reading a pamphlet in the lunchroom today outlining what is going to happen with the new logo and stores. I saw a picture with one of the managing directors wearing the new uniform. It's an olive looking colour with raised stitching of the company new logo on the left breast side of the shirt. I'll try to upload a pic in next couple of days.

Yeah kind of, just the logo of the company is more visible and the colour is a little darker.

Yeah we're putting those new logo signs up early next week I think, saw them in the lunch room today.

Has anyone seen anything in the media about it? I mean not necessarily articles on it but any newspaper or tv ad's yet?

not recently, there was alot of media coverage when the rebrand was initially announced way back in august. i cant believe that it has taken this long for them to introduce it!

What store's that, out of interest?

Also.. if they have new shirts already, HOW? I want one, as my current shirt is broken :( But seems like I'll end up having to buy one of the old shirts so I can wear it for a few months.

EDIT: i just found this:
Newly built supermarkets will now open with the new look logo, whilst refurbished stores will begin
changing in 2009. The new look logo will start to appear throughout catalogues, media and websites by March 2009.
So are they holding out until a store is completely refurbed until they rebrand it with new logo/colours, or just ripping down current outside signage on every store and replacing it throughout the year or whatever?

We put up about five thousand of those signs today but nothing has been said about new badges/shirts.

I was under the impression that the stores which have been refurbished already (in the current charcoal/black design) will undergo resignage, and that stores which are currently being refurbished will be the first to have the signs changed... As for the older model stores, it may take a while.

That's what I gathered from the pamphlet.

So pretty much stores that have not/are not going to be refurbed recently the answer is 'dunno'. our store was meant to be refurbed late this year but delayed indefinitely allegedly because of the financial crisis, so we probs won't get signage for ages either.

As for that other person saying how they got rebranded trolleys two months after getting new ones, i'm scandalised cos our store has ancient rusting ones that roll to the left that are a running joke of our town, plus another 30 or so completely fucked ones in the produce storeroom, and new ones aren't even on the cards!

Pardon the spamming, but I was wondering about Service Supervision training...

I was wondering if there was a proper, set way of training new front end supervisors? Cos I've done a few supervision shifts like weekend opens but have never been formally trained in anything, just from stuff i've picked up myself or what i've learnt from other supervisors. But i feel like I really don't know anything and am not confident on refunds, most of the SVR menu and like store policy shit.

Is there formal training you're supposed to receive that I'm not getting?

Our store was refurbished ~ 2 years ago... So we won't be being refurbished again for a while. Kinda lame.

From colleagues who are supervisors/are being 'trained', a lot of it is left to the person to figure it out.

there's no official training that i'm aware off (except when the change from ICL to WoWPoS came in)

the usual training method in our store is to spend a few weeks showing somebody the ropes, with respect to refunds etc. the common stuff, then move on to having them do 1 or 2 "buddy shifts" with another supervisor, then throw them into the deep end with an easy shift on their own.

edit: however, rarely is the more complex stuff taught, omly if and when needed e.g. Manual EFT, EFT Settlement, Dissection dumps

Ha dissection dumps are not complex.
OK we'll i haven't had any buddy shifts but I suppose they've shown me the ropes. I know how to do the phone paperwork and those funny account things that schools have. But yearsh this confirms my suspicion.

I think they should have formal training of supervisors, perhaps not unlike the one day or half day things new people have to attend. I'm sure it'll improve customer service.
Thanks

i know dumps arent complex in and of themselves, but the protocol for when they should and shouldnt be done and such is sometimes just a bit much for new supervisors i've found
