LOL! did the "National" EBA get through? the "National" one which seems to just merge all he sates ones into one big fucking document? The one which seems to give nothing to employees and just makes it easier for woolworths to refer to one document? the one, which when i had another flick through, has pay rates for each different state? How on earth do they get away with calling it a National Agreement, it's a fucking joke is what it is! More than anything in almost 6 years with woolworths, this so called "national eba" pisses me off more than all the shit customers and shit managers combined. I regreat not being CSM when it was voted on, becasuse i would have talked every single staffmember in my store to vote against it.

whats the likelihood that the 6% that voted no inhabit this thread? I swear that like 5 people in my store got to vote hey, especially the casual/weekend staff.

And seeing as my multiquote button is fucked, yeah I think thats a bit drastic townie ;). Its not THAT big a deal, but yes, it is a massive massive copout on the company's behalf.

look, i havent read the agreement cover to cover yet, and look, tbh, it probably isnt too bad in what it gives people, but to call it a national agreement is just beyond belief. A Unified State Agrement, Yes, but national, no. I remember when the big managers were selling it to us as beiing much simpler, with one single payscale, and standard conditions.

IMHO, a national agreement should treat workers equally in all areas, except for maybe a small, small, small, % of things giving EXTRA rights to some states based on their circumstances

ie - There are six stores in WA that get paid more than every other store in the state. I am in one of those stores. I quite like that ;)

The pay scales are ridiculous. They can't even figure out the proportions for junior wages.

When I voted, my SSM was sat next to me, he saw me put no on my vote, and his response was "seriously, what idiot votes against extra tea breaks". Disgusting, IMO.

I was told that the plan is for something like that, but first they'll get everyone in the one agreement, with seperate parts for each state.
Then in the next agreement begin to have all the conditions to be more merged together.

A few years. It's not a short term goal, It'll take a few agreements to get anywhere close to that. Especially at the pace they're going at.
But eventually they will get there.

Whether this actually happens is another story.

Thats fucking insane.
I actually had no idea where to fit in my tea breaks last night. When I came in there were a stack of 3-7 people who needed breaks, then the 4.30-8.30s, then two 5.30-9.30's.
(Now i say last night, because yes it was yesterday, but I am yet to get to bed yet. Sleep is my reward for finishing + submitting my assignment.)

Oh, and I think I have work today, but I might not, because the shift was on the adjustment sheet, but not on any rosters or grids. I signed it, checked with my SM, and he said if my CSM doesn't want me he will find a zillion things for me to do for 3.5 hours. :confused: And it was written in my CSM's handwriting, so you can't even blame it on my 2IC like always.

Oh well.

HA I just called in sick for today and copped a phonefull of abuse because its MY fault that the smokeshop operator called in sick. Really, I never knew we had to be so childish about everything. :confused:

Only left half an hour late tonight. :( I have no idea what my problem is. Whenever I close with my 2IC or CSM, we get out dead on time, in fact we were out early last week despite being a million people down. I close by myself, and I'm a minimum half an hour late. I don't even think I'm doing anything wrong :(

(doesn't help though that I have another supervisor with me who takes 5 minutes minimum to spot a till that I can do in less than 2 minutes. Tomorrow I'm going to speak to my CSM about giving another guy who ALWAYS does thursdays appropriate privileges for spot checks and stripping the other girl who has them but never works thursdays of hers).

Does that make sense?

Oh, and I spent all night being claustrophobically anxious seeing as my SM told me to do my third button up (on a TI shirt). I was wearing a vest with it too, I seriously don't know what the issue was.

Saturday nights are usually pretty good, I almost always get out on time..but sundays we close at 10, I'm rostered on till 10.30 and dont usually get out till 11-11.30

Closing tomorrow night yayy.

I voted no because I took a major issue with the fact that casuals could be given two hour shifts on weekdays - even though I was PT at the time and it would never have affected me.

I guess you're right, I just don't think that it reflects very well upon me to be so consistently late though.
In saying that, I don't know what more I would be expected to do, I had 10 draws left to count at close, 4 mains, 3 express, 1 smokeshop, 2 liquor. All were in use right up until close (except one of the liquor ones but I can't count them before close anyway). I had one other person with me who can spot check, and she's SO SLOW and doesn't really have a sense of urgency about anything. (This is the same newbie supervisor that I wanted to steal yoddle's guide for.) Everything else was good though, cleaning was fine, bags were out etc etc, its just the spotchecks.
(And I'm pretty quick, so its not like I'm wasting 5 minutes per draw)

Oh well.

I voted no because it was a generally crap agreement. I can understand the breaks for people rostered as operators, but for everyone else breaks shouldn't be required for shifts shorter than 4 hours. They should have differentiated between different roles and different breaks.

Plus there was the lack of flexibility with penalty rates, and a host of other reasons I believe I bitched about in a series of posts when we were first discussing it.
