Can somebody give me the most simple way to define allele , it just didnt make sense from the textbook !

an allele is a form of a gene.

Genes are lengths of DNA that code for specific characteristics.

For Example: A gene might code for Plant height.
The Alleles (forms) of this gene are "tall" and "short"

so the allele is the varies of one particular gene
