Does anyone else remember Bridge to Terabithia just being about two kids and a creek thing? My brother and I both read the book and we can't remember any of the CGI stuff. But it was what... 10 years ago so maybe my memory is not its best.

'england' looks interesting
good to see tommy from snatch again, with what looks like a more substantial role too.

as for anderson, i don't know whether to place his descent before or after 'tenenbaums'. rushmore is easily is best picture, but i like tenenbaums in spite of its weaknesses (some occasional flat writing). seems like ever since his visual ideas have ballooned but the writing becomes more repetitive and flat. darjeeling looks familiar in a dull kind of way - the dialogue from the trailer is worrying and personally i think adrian brody looks just plain annoying.
that said, i love anderson and i'll obviously reserve real judgement until release.

hopefully fantastic mr fox will provide a positive change of direction

No Reservations with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart looks like it'd be a good movie, out 23 Aug.

But I'm really looking forward to The Golden Compass (which is based on the novel Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman). It looks like it's going to be an awesome movie and do the book really well. It's from New Line cinema which havent had a good movie since the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Renaissance
I haven't seen animation like this since the days of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Hopefully Renaissance will fare better, though ...

sorry to bring the thread into disrepute with another 'potentially' good trailer
but here's the trailer for the new noah baumbach ('The Squid and the Whale') movie, 'Margot at the Wedding'
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount_vantage/margotatthewedding/trailer/

i kinda enjoyed the squid and the whale, even if it wasn't the most original movie. this looks pretty familiar too; but it looks better than the new anderson.
amirite? amirite?!

can't say i've heard of it, alley. :(

btw, has anyone seen the new trailers for there will be blood and the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford? they're amazing! and i'm not linking them! i'm totally cumming over this new-fangled western revival. jesse james is andrew dominik's long-gestating follow-up to chopper, i should add.

the trailer for haneke's american funny games remake is out too; it's a shot-for-shot fascimile only with english-speaking actors (tim roth, naomi watts, michael pitt, etc). guess haneke's just trying to get his message out to the torture-porn kids who need it most. and why not?

new westerns! totally!
i upped the 'blood' trailer earlier in this very thread
really looking forward to jesse james, especially given how excellent chopper is.
also optimistic abou 3:10 to Yuma. seeing pictures makes me think russel crowe is bizarrely at home in westerns (thinks back to the v silly 'quick and the dead')

i remember my parents were invited to something to do with this cult a few years ago and i knew it was a shifty place, but i was overseas when it was on at the melbourne film festival and i wanted to kick myself in the head.

how can you check to see if something is being considered for release? its not on imdb, i checked.

Is anyone else looking forward to the new Disney movie, Enchanted? It looks like it'd be quite good. It has James Marsden and Patrick Dempsey (which means it'll attract the millions of Grey's fans out there- like me). It starts off animated but i think the movement into regular filming is a clever idea. It comes out in december.

BTW has anyone seen December Boys yet? It has Daniel Radcliffe in it so I'll probably go watch it.
