Some people may think of B Arts that way but I think of it as an extra certificate to outshine your friends at the end of the day but truthfully job prospects is very limited.

That's where the Honours in Maths comes in for me.

In my degree, Honours is compulsory.

You've only done one year of Commerce subjects, and realistically, your marks weren't that bad. Maybe compared to your maths they weren't as great, but they weren't bad.

But I don't really have a drive to do them.

What I was thinking was try one more semester and see if I enjoy it - and if not, switch out. But if I do that, I'll have to take an extra semester to finish my work or overload during Honours year. The switch is based more on "I enjoy English" - but the thing there is, I don't know if the way they teach English at uni is appropriate or appealing to me. And I don't think Commerce is that bad either, like I'll go through with it - but I'm not super driven.

I'm thinking I'll go to Info Day and ask around. And canvas for more thoughts.

Wow man, IMO if I were going to transfer to an Arts degree, do a major that would make you more employable, like a different language. Simply liking something and trying to retain excellent grades doesn't mean much if you can't apply the degree into practical use. But then again, if you can find a way to get your English and Maths majors into good use, then go ahead. As of now, if you take this path, then you might have to be either a teacher or a university lecturer or tutor.

I don't really want to use the Arts degree post-grad, it's just there to fill out space. Arguably, I could drop to sole Advanced Maths - but... I'd like all the electives I take in English to at least be recognised and I don't think it's that much of a stretch to have essentially, a free degree, if I just do a few extra courses.

Oh I see, fair enough. If you do well in those courses then suppose it will be worth it in the future

If? Come on... maths graduates! They get jobs pretty easy. Kinda.

If not, well... I suppose teaching is an option. Though your suggestion of uni tutor was really good.

Maths graduates get jobs easily because they often hold a double degree, ie. finance or actuarial. And that's why they get it easily. Simply having maths on its own won't really help unless if you want to be a statistician at the ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics), or something like that.

Uni tutor is actually good. It actually pays very well too. But don't bore the classes though, make sure your delivery of the content is good, ie. try to engage the audience, or maybe use AZ style puns

I dunno, I think that's arguable. I agree the Finance thing will be good for getting a job, but then again - I dunno. The lectures bore me horribly and I'm not sure if I'd even accept a job in the Finance area after graduation - with those 'memories' from Finance at uni.

Besides, I can communicate well, and I'm not completely sheltered and anti-social so... I'll make up for it that way! hehehe

And I won't be a Statistician at ABS because my major is in Pure Maths. And if I become a tutor, well... let's reserve how to be a good tutor until then.

True. But as I said, I'll ask around on Info Day and the like - see if it's worth taking the plunge on. I have no problem with overloading - I figure the hard part for Arts will be to read the books and material they give you.
