I am commencing a B commerce at USYD in 2016. I received an atar of 95 excluding eas. Would it be possible to transfer into combined law with this atar? I've heard that you need 97+, however.

I think after either one year or one semester of uni (i can't remember), USYD will disregard your ATAR consider your WAM and your uni results only if it makes you more competitive than your ATAR does. But yeah it says on the website you need 97+ to be competitive for a transfer

Generally, for transfers, they consider 50:50 (ATAR:GPA). However, if your GPA is more competitive than your ATAR, it could be 100 (just GPA).

I'm unsure if the latter applies to USYD transfers but I think it does.

97+ ATAR to be competitive = most likely means that the average of your ATAR and the GPA equivalent (NRSL index) should be 97+.

FYI, it's after 1 year of uni if you don't make the ATAR cut-off initially.

You could alternatively do law at either UTS or MQ and then do an external transfer.
